AutoPlaylist sort by timestamp

Post by slapleather »

I realize this has been asked for in other parts of the forum in the past, but I didn't find it in the wishlist category. What would be immensely useful (particularly for anyone who listens to podcasts) is for AutoPlaylists to have "timestamp" and/or "play #" added as a sort order property. This way one could simply sync the AutoPlaylist and the newest (and/or unplayed) files could be at the top of the list.

It doesn't seem to be particularly complicated to add an additional "sort order" property and I hope to see this in a not-too-far-in-the-future release of MM.

Thanks!

Played # is already available as a sort option, and wouldn't Added handle the "newest" part? *Scratches Head*

"Added" doesn't behave the same as timestamp from what I could tell.

Sorry for reviving an old thread but this option would indeed be useful.

I would benefit from Timestamp being a Sort column in an auto playlist as well. Sometimes I add music to the library, but don't rate it for several months. I basically want a playlist of "Recently Rated" songs, so I filter out under 3 stars, and for now I filter by timestamp < 14 days. I would prefer to have it give me the last 50 songs, sorted by timestamp because my "timestamp < 14 days" sometimes has nothing in it if I didn't rate any songs for a couple weeks.

Sorting by the "Added" column isn't even close to the same thing.

The initial post wanted a way of showing only the "newest" files, which is what Added would provide. It didn't specify they wanted the most recently edited (which doesn't directly translate to "newest" as you can make a spelling correction a year after you added the "new" file.)

I would also like this feature to be implemented, especially if you've just recovered from a broken Database file and have to start anew. It's very aggravating since I'm managing multiple database accounts from previous backups and songs were added at different times.
