MM4 Icons for each file type
It would be nice to get an update for MM icons. They look kind of boring right now. Something like this would be great :

Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit
AMD Phenom II x4 940 (3GHz)
ASRock A780
4GB DDR2 333
ATI Radeon HD 3200
Library on two disks : Western Digital Caviar 1.5TB - WDC 640GB
AMD Phenom II x4 940 (3GHz)
ASRock A780
4GB DDR2 333
ATI Radeon HD 3200

Re: MM4 Icons for each file type
What bothers me the most is that they look outdated, aliased and that they don't contain high resolution images.

Something like Lich's icon pack 2 would be great too.

I'd rather have the current one than those. I do agree though that they should look at the icons.Eyal wrote:Something like Lich's icon pack 2 would be great too.

Here is the kind of design I would like for the media file type icons. ( Sorry don't really like the one you proposed Eyal and Vpsaxman )

Re: MM4 Icons for each file type
Dreadlau's are nicer, but I'd like to have one element that is the same for all icons. Preferably the MediaMonkey logo otherwise a music note. This would allow to not only identify the file type, but also the program associated with it. I also like the extension inside the icon.
I guess there should be similar, but different icons for smaller and bigger icons as that much information would be hard to fit inside a small icon.

Makes sense but please not the Mediamonkey logo. I hate it!!Lowlander wrote:but I'd like to have one element that is the same for all icons. Preferably the MediaMonkey logo otherwise a music note. This would allow to not only identify the file type, but also the program associated with it.

Of course this is important. Well designed icons always contain several different images adapted for each size.Lowlander wrote: I guess there should be similar, but different icons for smaller and bigger icons as that much information would be hard to fit inside a small icon.
Like you said the smaller the image, the more the content has to be minimal.
By the way, you know what would be awesome:
1. The possibility to choose and attach these icons inside skin files.
2. The possibility for the users to choose themselves their icons in menu tools > options > OS integration.
This is implemented in foobar iirc.

BTW Dreadlau, how big is your screen? Previous screenshot is 900x1907 pixels. Does your monitor is set vertically?

WHUXGA (7680×4800)

No just kidding. I exceptionally set it vertically for this screenshot. I have a 1920x1080 monitor.

Edit: Maybe in few years it will be 'standard'...
Re: MM4 Icons for each file type
Yeah, I don't particularly like the icons in the screenshot I posted. Yet, they all are color coded (small icon friendly) and have a similar design attached to the program they use.
FWIW, and even these could be way better, here's ho foobar icons look like.

I like the icons you posted Dreadlau but I wonder how efficient they'd be when reduced to a smaller size.

Re: MM4 Icons for each file type
Well. Yes you're right.
Taking what you said in consideration. I think foobar icons are good.
Tho there is no way you can fit a monkey inside a 16pix icon.
As for the icons I posted, they would not be good at 16pix either I reckon.

Re: MM4 Icons for each file type
If you stylize the monkey a little, you can make it fit.
I suck at doing this sort of stuff - so you 're gonna have to use your imagination - but here's what I did in 10min. The color coding is key IMO.

If someone who knew how to do these sorta things made a better monkey design, it'd look great IMO.
