Override podcast Artist/Album/etc.? [#7440]

Post by mtf1979 »

Hi all. Very happy MediaMonkey (Gold License) user here. I've been using it for over a year now, and generally speaking, I love it. But I'm experiencing a slight frustration with my Podcast Subscription tagging.

Is there a way -- builtin, plugin, or otherwise -- to use the "On download, tag episodes based on data from podcast feed" but also always override the tag values for certain fields?

I would literally kill or maim for this functionality. As any regular podcast subscribers out there know, podcast producers are often nightmarishly inconsistent with their track tagging, so keeping my podcast library organized requires constant maintenance. I'm fine with a certain amount of that, but I would absolutely love to be able to, for example, always force the same Artist and Album values for a given podcast.

Side note: If I were able to do this, that would preclude the need to squash this bug that I just reported -- I could simply force different Artist values for the 3 podcasts that I mention in that bug report and that would fix the problem.

No, there's no way to do that.

I would love to be able to do this as well. For most of my Podcasts I would only want the Title to be auto-filled with feed values and items like Artist and Album be auto-filled with predefined values by me.

Yes yes YES. I agree x 1,000,000. Please, PLEASE implement this MediaMonkey devs! The Podcast management is the only thing that prevents this application from being truly transcendental IMHO.

I suppose I should submit this as a feature request?

It's already as it has been moved to the wishlist.

Added to Mantis here: http://www.ventismedia.com/mantis/view.php?id=7440

I care about this as I access Podcasts over DLNA and DLNA navigation isn't as easy as in MediaMonkey itself.

Similarly Podcast download rules so the user could define which podcast files to download from a specific podcast would be a good feature. Especially with video podcasts now supported it would be nice to only download those files the user actually cares about.
