Not Exactl A Bug... But !

Post by tonydowden »

Hi,

Love this new version and all the improvements. However, there is one problem I find with it.

When I right click on a track and bring up the Properties Box the first tab 'Basics' is now extremely difficuly to glance through quickly due to the new layout. I really think that the titles should either be bold or coloured differently so that they stand out and then the whole thing will be much easier to read through.

Hope you can incorporate this in a later build.

Thanks again for all the new features,

Regards,

Tony

I aggree with you. There are quite much information on this page.

What disturbs me most with this page is the field captions are being cut of due to having not enough space between the edit controls.

No problems with cut off text here. Are you using increased font size?

Btw: I disagree with you, I think the layout is much nicer in MM4. It seems better organized to me. Maybe it's just that you're not used to the new layout. Here's a side-by-side:

I prefer the MM3 layout over the MM4 layout. The separations (grouping) it used between different areas made it easier to use. In the end I guess we'll get used to it and complain how MM4's layout is much better than MM5's layout.

In the old layout, you had labels everywhere. To the left of the input boxes, above, and below! Now, it's much more consistent (labels always on top or on the left) and it fits more fields into the same space.

I notice in the MM4 screenshot there isn't a category for Grouping. Currently I use that, do I need to begin the process of moving current information in Grouping somewhere else?

Grouping has been moved to the Details tab.

I must say that Eyal's mock-up look way more convenient.

@Eyal
At first I liked it very much, then Jiri made me remember that MM is Multi Language app and that there should be space for localizations.

One thing is sure that MM4 layout is more organized than MM3 especially as it is more suited for Multi Collections and Video Tagging.

I'll rise this with other to see if/what is possible at current stage.

Nothing against Eyal, but no way. In his proposal we lose much space for the actual fields!

I prefer Eyal's Mockup.

In the current layout there is not enough space between the different elements. That's my main gripe about it.

Code: Select all

Title
Let Me Go
Artsit(s)
3Doors Down
=> it has very poor readability.

So if it was like this:

Code: Select all

Title
Let Me Go

Artist(s)
3Doors Down
Or like this (Eyal's proposal):

Code: Select all

Title Let Me Go

Artist(s) 3Doors Down
It would be way better.

I prefer the grouping MediaMonkey 3 has over just adding more space between all elements. I don't have an issue with the labels being above the elements as in MediaMonkey 4 as this does allow more flexibility when translated into foreign languages.
