Video Collection Genre Treenodes Have Director Subnodes 8740
Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit
MediaMonkey 4.0.6.1501
The Video collection genre treenodes break down into director subnodes before filtering to the movies. This occurs within MediaMonkey and when viewing the video structure through DNLA. This makes the use of genres virtually unusable through DNLA.

Video Collection Series Treenodes Are Affected By AlbumArtis
Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit
MediaMonkey 4.0.6.1501
The Video collection series treenodes are affected if something is entered into the album artist field. If you have 3 videos tied to 1 series and 1 of the videos has an album artist listed the series treenode will show 2 nodes, one for the original series and the other with the original series and the album artist in parenthesis. This occurs within MediaMonkey and when viewing the video structure through DNLA. This is minor issue, because you can clear the album artist field both MediaMonkey and DNLA work as expected.

Remove Director from Genre: http://www.ventismedia.com/mantis/view.php?id=12843
The ability to customize the tree structure has already been requested: http://www.ventismedia.com/mantis/view.php?id=8740
For within MediaMonkey MagicNodes can be used, but it doesn't work over DLNA: http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewto ... magicnodes

Magic Nodes should work over UPnP/DLNA as of MM 4.1 build 1626.

Why am I getting Directors back ..
On my players (tested just now on one samsung br and one sony br) the following happens ..
From starting menu select Video
then select genre
then select a genre (action)
I get a list of Directors ... this is ... er ... nice but very un-useful <G>
How can I get a list of Titles ..

I can confirm this in MMW. I don't know if it has changed as I haven't used the MMW DLNA server for video for a long time.

What does this have to do with tree nodes or magic notes or ...
DLNA select genre creates director list only .
If this has been so long standing .. .though it seems different to me .. why hasn't it been fixed. I don't want to change tree nodes .. i want mm to fix the data returned.

Re: Video Collection Genre Treenodes Have Director Subnodes
Over DLNA you get tree nodes before you get to a filelist. So you will need to open a Director node to see associated movies. That works as expected here. However Genre node shouldn't have Director as subnode in the first place as for Movies and TV Shows few will know the Director.

SO .. what you are saying is someone made the great Idea that you have to know the director of every movie you want to watch .. really !!!!
Not that anyone there cares but this is pushing the buttons a little too much.

Re: Video Collection Genre Treenodes Have Director Subnodes
Yes, exactly. MagicNodes is the workaround as you can create your own navigation structure and it works over DLNA too.
I don't know why it was designed like that. My assumption is that it comes from Genre for music files where Artist is the sub-node. So it may have been an oversight that's never been rectified.

Re: Video Collection Genre Treenodes Have Director Subnodes
Maybe I am missing something, but I probably don't understand what the issue is. User can view _all_ the tracks of the genre by navigating Video -> Genres -> [Genre1] -> [All]
How removing Director sub-node from Genre helps? Is it about to save one navigation step?
