I just switched to MediaMonkey from iTunes. It's not the most intuitive thing ever, but once I got through the worst of the learning curve I started to love it. So nice not to be tethered to iTunes anymore.
That said, I would like to put in my votes for the following features (which I haven't been able to find extensions for):
*Intuitive sorting of Artist/Album/Tracks like iTunes: apply the "ignore prefix" to all of these columns (and include special characters - I have artists whose "official" names start with things like ", [, and |), plus check a "sort" field before defaulting to the plain "artist" or whatever.
*Likewise, intuitive numerical sorting that doesn't require manually inserting 0s (especially if it works even WITHIN fields, i.e. if you tracks called Song 1, Song 2, and Song 10 they will be listed in that order).
*Remembering columns by playlist/node - I have to constantly reconfigure based on what I'm trying to do.
*Using system default browser rather than IE for Web stuff. I hate that it always opens IE instead of a new tab in Firefox.
*And this is probably a really long shot, but boy it would be awesome to have some kind of built-in music brainz tagging support, even if it was just a context menu item for sending a track to Picard.

Re: Discussion about the Official Wishlist
Thought I replied to this yesterday, huh.
Anyway, thanks for adding my post to those request pages. I hope the "high" priority on the first one means it'll be applied sooner rather than later.
Regarding #3, yes. And I REALLY want it broken down by specific section. If I'm looking at the duplicate titles view, I might sort by date added, file name, or bit rate to decide which to delete, but I don't want to see those fields in my main Music view. I also have a custom column to tell me which playlists a song is in. It's useless information when I'm looking at the playlist(s) directly; I'd rather use that space to view comments related to the playlist.
#4, I was afraid of that. Ah, well. Since there's no kind of ad blocking in MM anyway, I'll just stick with my browser.
#5, lol. Figures that MM would handle this one better than stuff that seems more basic in principle.
Seriously, I'm thrilled with MediaMonkey. The sorting and columns stuff are the ONLY things I miss.

3) As this is done per Collection you can create new Collections instead of Playlists. The added benefit of Collections is that you can break things down per Artist, Album, etc. and that you have Files to Edit as well.

Re: Discussion about the Official Wishlist
I'm not sure I understand. Doesn't adding a collection add a whole new tree? Why would I want to do that just to see one specific view? Also, isn't that specific to Gold?
I'm also not used to the whole tree/node thing yet. It may grow on me, but at the moment it feels like killing a fly with a sledgehammer. I know some people have music collections so large that it's the only way to go (I may myself, eventually), but right now it takes me more work to use the tree than it does to sort by a column and jump to where I want by typing.
(Okay, there's a third thing I miss - I wish my collections and playlists would return to the last spot I was at rather than going back to the top when I switch between them.)

3) It's the only way to do this as column settings are saved per Collection.
6) They do if you use the Back/Forward buttons.

3) Oh, I see. You're offering current solutions. I appreciate that.
I posted in the wishlist thread, because I really WISH it worked this other way, or could be configured to. (If the sorting thing gets fixed, and it offered THIS capability, I would buy a Gold membership in heartbeat).
6) Good to know, thanks! Retraining myself to use those buttons will be the hard part, then. (I still wish it did this by default, knowing my work style...)

For the record, I was able to do exactly what I wanted with Picard using External Tools:
