1209 Tracklist scroll can change quick search input BUG#5182

If in quick search I enter S:\TLIB\0, tracklist updates to show 209 files - fine. If I then drag the tracklist vertical scroll bar button, MM changes the quick search input value to S:\TLIB\00604988030426\1\2.wma - not fine.

I'm guessing MM has taken this new value from the quick search dropdown list - I do see it there. I'm guessing MM did this when the input control lost focus.

EDIT: When entering in quick search, be sure to delete any auto-complete addition that appears.
EDIT: This issue is not confined to cases where the new value referred to is on the drop-down list.
EDIT: This issue remains in 1213.

Actually it's already there when you type as it's auto-complete that is doing this, it just commits when unfocussing the search box..

It would be better if auto-complete results are shown in a drop down as the current behavior requires the user to delete the auto-complete text as Chris describes.

I deleted the auto-complete's addition.

For me with 1211 it will show the auto-complete in the search bar while typing. I'd advise to retest this in 1211 if it still has the same behavior as 1209 for you or is changed.

For me the issue is that MediaMonkey already limits the results to auto-complete even if I type one character.

That's not what see in Mantis. What I see developer Ludek saying he's unable to reproduce is an issue described by you, misattributed to me, and (sorry not to point this out earlier) not according with my original report above.

Scenario 1 on 1209 (CrissJJ)
Type part of a previous search query, let results load, scroll track listing vertically and a previous search query containing the current is loaded.

I'm sorry I fail to see what's wrong in my description, what should I add to the report? Trying again with a few more scenarios and I still can't reproduce your issue. I do wonder if it's related to the copy/paste bug in the search box.

The issues I see here are:

1) Tracklist scroll can change quick search input (i.e. your original report). I've tried to replicate it as follows:
Type: 'Love Bites' in searchbar
Type: 'Love' --> Autocomplete causes 'Love_Bites_' to appear (_Bites_ is highlighted) and tracklist is filled with search results for 'Love Bites' (see item 2)
Press <Delete> --> '_Bites' is deleted from the searchbar and tracklist is updated with search results for Love
Move cursor to tracklist scrollbar and scroll down --> no effect on the contents of the Searchbar

Can you tell me what I'm doing wrong? I can't seem to replicate it...

2) The problem regarding the fact that tracklist is filled with results _suggested_ by Auto-complete before the user has somehow accepted the suggestion. I've re-opened bug #3687 to better describe the issue.

Actually, in my opinion it is not a a problem, but desriable and consistent behaviour.

Actually most software seem to use a drop down like Firefox, Internet Explorer, Windows Explorer and Word. The only place I was able to reproduce the auto-complete was in Access 2003 online help.

As for your problem the only way I can get a previous search like you describe is using the mouse scroll button over the search box.

Note, I figured out how to reproduce the scrollbar problem. Updated in bug #5182.
