1208 Quick search string having ! gives false +ves [6844]

e.g. search for glitches! gives true positives on glitches! but false positives on glitches. Status of negatives unknown.

Until this is fixed, a can anyone suggest a workaround? Not "glitches!" - this gives false negatives on glitches! (and true negatives on glitches).
