1164 Sync Selected fails to skip track files...[6917]

Post by chrisjj »

... that are already on the device. This happens regardless of whether the selection is a playlist or tracks.

e.g.

1 Drag a track to the device button - see the status bar confirm Copying
2 Wait for completion.
3 Drag thesame track to the device button again - see the status bar show Copying again.

MM needlessly copies the track again.

This was tested using a WMDM device.

EDIT(TC): Tracked at http://www.ventismedia.com/mantis/view.php?id=6917

Could be by design, I would have thought that if you're dragging the song onto the player you're telling MM to copy it over again. This is what I would expect to happen, but I could be wrong.

P.S Does this also happen when auto syncing? I've noticed that MM checks all the tracks on my UMS device and am considering switching to MTP to avoid this.

Dragging is supposed to do the same as clicking the device button with 'Sync selected' set, and according to the Help that's a sync not a straight copy i.e. send-to. The latter is provided by the Send to... command.
EDIT: Correction: Send to... does not provide straight copy, but again sync (at least on WMDM)

No.

MTP doesn't avoid that here.

Hey, you're a lucky guy having a dual-mode device! Which is it?
