1164 Auto-conversion fails to convert ID3 tags for...[6914]

Post by chrisjj »

...devices that accept only ASCII, such as the Sansa m250.

This means that if the source file contains e.g. á, the device tag display fails.

Perhaps MM is not aware of this conversion issue? In which case this is a wish that it be made so, rather than a bug report ;)

EDIT(TC): Tracked at http://www.ventismedia.com/mantis/view.php?id=6914

Can anyone suggest a script/tool to workaround this? I.e. to replace all non ASCII characters with the nearest ASCII equivalent, e.g. á>a, whoknowswhat>_ .

Currently I use a common-cases script in Mp3tag which, whilst a great program, has no facility to handle the full set e.g. $asciify().
