1202: album art view right clicking column headers BUG:5053

Post by Teknojnky »

Right clicking column headers in full album art view does not provide column selection pop up, and insteads sorts by the column that is right clicked.

I would like to add the track title to the album art view and that currently does not seem possible.

Perhaps it should be an option to show track name instead of album when only single track is displayed.

Additionally, the columns composer, conductor, year, count, and length do not seem to be displayed in album art view even though they are shown in the column headers.

Question:

How can you show the track title if you are showing full albums in AA view?

yes good point, I mentioned in bug tracker that perhaps show track title only when 1 track is displayed while in album art view.

I"ll not quote all you said: just stick with this for now.

I just want to be able to get rid of the Composer, Conductor, Count and Length columns. I might want to use the Count and Length columns. I'm not sure why we can't choose columns in Album Art view?

----

Like you, I don't really use Album Art views because even though I would LOVE to, it's just not right at the moment. It's only been a year! I'll try and write a post [not below here, but later I'll give it a go] with my best effort at useful suggestions but it's not easy for me.

Basically, Teknojnky is not coming up with difficult far-out suggestions, he's just one of many who must agree - and these are things that are just cryng out at you. Personally I don't really understand everything TJ says (only cos I'm stupid) which doesn't help and I think there's some really clear and obvious things in this. Currently the talk is about detail and people are reporting individual bugs etc, but this issue is about the big album art 'picture'.

Teknojnky is so spot on with his 'rant' in the ventis thingy, it's such a shame that there isn't one lively thread for us all to talk about it... just in case some of this goes over some people's heads like me. The more, and the sooner, we discuss it, the clearer it will all become. I vote TJ to start a major "album art thread". Whether or not you do that, TJ, thanks for writing down your thoughts - they are the bext thing I've read on this site in 18 months. No joke.

[EDIT: Sorry, I guess this http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewto ... =6&t=35084 is the thread. As I say, I think there's even more to it, but I will post my thoughts in there when I gather something coherent together. For now, please can we choose the columns we want.]

I realize it's a major issue (hassle) for the devs so I'm not complaining, just stressing what an important issue it is and I just wish you good luck with it.

PS. The "bext" above was an accidental typo. I was about to change it, but it's a very apt association of Bex and Best. He's another star! Thanks, Teknojnky.
