Buggy Beta ver 1203

Post by DandyDon »

Too many problems with version 120x. Hate the way the drop downs work when choosing genre, album, artist. etc..........was much better in 1190. Please rethink. Database is much slower in the current version than in version 1190.

Do you have any examples of what is causing you problems, I find 1204 is much faster than 1190? Also, while I prefer the previous method of auto-completion I do not think they will change it back. This method is more cumbersome than the previous method, but I would settle for a compromise if the autocomplete would begin giving results after the first letter.

Trying to delete from library generated SQL errors. I had problems doing multifile tag editing. One time when I was editing tags and the artist tag disappeared. And the DB is much much faster in 1190 (at least on my extremely fast machine X9650 running at 3.0 ghz.). Overall it has not performed nearly as well as 1190. I do hope they forego that new dropdown box method in the new version and consider going back to the way it was in 1190. I'm a programmer and the idea is to make it as user friendly as possible. The new method is not user friendly at all.

Thanks for your thoughts.

Well let me download the latest version and see if any improvements have been made over 1203.

Well the database is much faster in 1204 than it was in 1203. I was never able to burn an audio cd with 1190 for whatever reason. with 1204 It seems that I can now burn an audio CD. Let's see how it goes.

Well I spoke too soon about being able to burn an audio CD, it got as far as 9% and that's it. I'm sure it's my burner and not mediamonkey. It's a TSST-Corp 653h or some crap like that. Came with the Dell machine. Can't find a firmware upgrade anywhere.

Will there be an option in the next beta to return to the old auto completion? I think the old one was faster (at least for me).

I doubt it. And, I find it faster to use (once the crash problem was fixed) because:

- I frequently click on a 2nd-5th entry in the list. With 3.0 all you got was the 1st suggestion.
- I frequently edit mult-value tags. With 3.0 auto-complete only worked for the first value for the tag.
- I would occasionally get fumble fingered, hit the wrong key and loose the new value completely. Escape and start over time.

Well, when I type for example a word in the genre tab MediaMonkey doesn't show any suggestions until I wrote the complete word. I don't know if this is a bug, but there's now no time saving for me anymore. Maybe I missed an option or something? Or should I do a fresh install of MediaMonkey?

Are you sure the genre exists, I usually will get a result after the second letter? Personally, I do not like the drop down because you then have to make a selection whereas with the previous way it would complete the entry for you. But I'll get used to it because like Owyn stated I do not think it will go back to the previous behavior.

Well, the auto completion only works for me when I edit something in the properties of a track (the field, however, must be empty; is it supposed to work like this?). When I edit something in the libary nothing is recommended. So if the new drop down menu also worked in the libary I would be satisfied.
