1209 Quoted quick search of Path fails [5186]

Post by chrisjj »

1 In search options 'Search the following fields via the Search bar:', ensure only Path ticked
2 in quick search enter ".wma" (inc. quotes - defined to do exact match, says Rusty @ http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewto ... 56#p184056)

Expected: match on all files with .wma in path
Observed: no matches.

The same failure occurs on "." and "\" and "wma".

Seems to be related to http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewto ... =6&t=35976 and http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewto ... =6&t=35968.

The issue seems that path search when using quotes isn't respecting the special characters which should happen when quotes are used.

And yes on .1212 ".flac" only finds some of all the FLAC files.

Actually with some more testing "FLAC" only shows results that include FLAC with a leading and trailing space. This seems incorrect as "" indicate what content should be leading trailing the search query in the results.

That theory fails to accord with the "wma" case.

I think that this is the bug that's causing all these issues. "" expects leading/trailing space or no leading/trailing character, it also applies to other fields.

These are just small bugs, no data is being corrupted or lost. The new search has many test cases that need to be run and thus errors can occur. This is stuff that comes up in beta tests.

How did the test team measure the size of a bug it never found, I wonder... ;)

Thanks, but the characterisation is in error:
When using the quick search with "" MediaMonkey expects that the search results containing a leading/trailing space or no character.
The "no character" qualification does not accord with the case of query = full path i.e. S:\TLIB\02480002928829\1\16.wma still fails to match that Path.

Strange as "Madonna" does find Madonna as artist.

The path issue might be because of different bug though.

Well, quite. I'd appreciate it if you would file the bug I reported, not conflating it with any other bug that may or may not be different.

Actually yours is not a bug as "" only returns full matches not partial matches. I did ask for a method to do a search like .wma and get all WMA files returned.

Of course the specific extension search could be solved by allowing to search the Type field in the Quick Search (like it's possible in the Advanced Search).
