Search bar issue BUG#5319

Postby Guest on Thu Feb 19, 2009 8:23 am

I can't use "title:","composer:"and "grouping:" in search bar.
However, I can use those translated words.
Of course, I have checked them in search option dialog.

Are you using a foreign language version of MediaMonkey?

I think it's by design that those commands are only available in the language your using MediaMonkey in.

I confirmed the same issue on my MM.3.1.0.1223(Gold) .

1) When I used Japanese lang. files:
"title:love" → no result
"タイトル:love" → 78 tracks match
(Note: "タイトル" is translation of "title".)

2) When I used Chinese(Simplified) lang. files:
"title:love" → no result
"标题:love" → 78 tracks match

3) When I used German lang. files:
"title:love" → no result
"titel:love" → 78 tracks match

4) When I used no lang. files (use English):
"title:love" → 78 tracks match

I confirmed this issue about "title", "composer", and "grouping".
The other field names seem to work well.(English field names are also usable)

By the way, I don't know which field name I can use.
"Disk#", "type", "original artist", and some other field names gave no result in any languages.

I confirmed this issue was solved in 3.1.0.1224.
But, translated field name of 'played' is not available.

Yes, this is because 'played' has not been added to the translate package to be translated. In english you can use 2 forms for some fields like e.g. 'Played:2..' or 'Played#:2..', but in the localized version there is a need to enter the exact names of the fields (see column header), i.e. you need to use 'Played#:2..' in the translated version.

However, I got no result in Japanese, Chinese, ang German translation.

Japanese : 再生回数
Chinese : 播放数
German : gespielt#, Gespielt#, gespielt #, Gespielt #

There seems to be tag fields which can not be searched by using search bar correctly.
(Though I check all items in setting of the search.)

1) These fields can not be searched.
(disk , encoder , publisher , original lyricist)

2) These fields can be searched , but the appointment of the field to search does not work.
(original artist , original title)

3) In the search of the "Leveling" , the value of the minus can not be searched.

4) I do not understand the way of the search of the "channels".

MM3.1.2.1275
WinXP Home SP3 Japanese Ver. , MM3.2 Gold , Spotify-B Skin , Japanese Lang files

Reika,

Thanks for the feedback.

1) These fields can not be searched.
(disk , encoder , publisher , original lyricist)

I was able to search these fields using the search bar (assuming Tools > Options > Library > Search had those fields enabled). Are you doing anything else that might account for this?

2) These fields can be searched , but the appointment of the field to search does not work.
(original artist , original title)

I'm not quite sure I understand. Can you explain a bit more?

3) In the search of the "Leveling" , the value of the minus can not be searched.

Are you talking about the 'Advanced Search' panel? As far as I can see, entering a negative value works correctly. e.g. Leveling < -1 .

4) I do not understand the way of the search of the "channels".

Can you explain? I'm not sure what you mean.

I show the example which I really tried with search bar.
In addition, I Optimized database(Complete) and confirmed to checked all items in setting of the search before trying these.

1)
lame -> no files
Encoder:lame -> no files
Advanced Search (Encoder contains lame) -> 1402 files match

WARNER -> no files
Publisher:WARNER -> no files
Advanced Search (Publisher contains "WARNER") -> 53 files match

2)
TURNSTILES -> 3 files match
Original Title:TURNSTILES -> no files
Advanced Search (Original Title contains TURNSTILES) -> 3 files match

3)
When X is a negative value in a format of "Leveling:X..Y", it does not seem to work correctly.

Leveling:..-5 -> 119 files match
Leveling:..-2 -> 176 files match
Leveling:-5..-2 -> no files
Leveling:-2..-5 -> no files
Leveling:-5.. -> no files

4)
I understood the cause of this issue.
MM's search condition "Channels" means "music channels - 1".

Channels:..2 -> 3881 files match
Channels:1..2 -> 3880 files match
Channels:2 -> no files
Channels:1 -> 3880 files match (All of them are "stereo".)
Channels:0 -> 1 files match (This song is "monoral")

In addition , Advanced search doesn't have a condition "channels".

I also cannot reproduce 1&2

1) All the fields works.
Anyone else see this problem?

2)
Both 'Original Artist:U2' and 'Původní interpret:U2' (in czech) works.
Anyone else see this problem?

I have already confirmed (3) and (4) to be fixed in 1279.

About (1) and (2), I decide to use advanced search function.
I do not always trust the function of the search bar of MM3.1 very much like many Japanese users.
(The search bar is hardly useful for search from Japanese tags.)
