Album art doesn't show up on Pioneer Avic stereo [#5516]

Post by dmode101 »

I recently upgraded my Alpine x001 car stereo to a Pioneer Avic navigation unit. I noticed that none of my album art shows up on the unit when i sync with MM. I was however, able to get it to show up on the unit if I used Itunes. I did find a related thread below which is the same exact behavior I am experiencing: http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewto ... =0&sk=t&sd

There is great online Pioneer Avic community (http://www.avic411.com), but so far there is no known workaround expect to use Itunes. Has there been any progress on getting MM to work on the Pioneer units? I can do all the testing you need on this and upload you all the debug/log files. Please, free us from Itunes, thanks!!!

MM Developers:

I just installed the latest Winamp (version 5.551) and when I sync with it, ALL my album art shows up on my Pioneer Avic unit! Since the Winamp developers have "decoded" this already, is it possible for you to use/see what they did to resolve this? Hope this helps, thanks!

Having same issue with my new iPod classic and Avic F700. Please look into fix, iTunes must be avoided. The winamp synch is interesting, may have to try that.

By the way, I embed all art into the tags and do not use outside images. Embedded art is typically no more than 25-50kb. One would think that this is the most foolproof method for cross platform compatibility. Apparently not.

Thanks in advance for the help.

.....did more testing on this problem. It appears to only be a problem with the Ipod classic models - 80gig, 120 gig ad 160 gigs models. I just tried to sync up a friends Ipod Nano (latest model, 4th gen) and the album art shows up perfectly when syncing with Media Monkey. Hopefully this information will help you resolve this issue for Pioneer Avic users. Again, Winamp resolved this problem already, but i would much rather continue to use Media Monkey.

BTW, I am using the latest beta 1229.

Thanks!

I have the same problem with my iPod Classic 120Gb and the Pioneer AVIC F90BT.
The album art shows up fine on the iPod itself, coverflow works fine, but on the deck, none of the album art shows up.

I will not. Not. NOT go back to iTunes, even if MM put goatse for every album's art. MM's been worth every dollar I paid for it already, and it's better at syncing with the iPod than iTunes already, I'd just love to have my album art back, that's all.

I'm also willing to test if the developers need it.

I just had an AVIC-F90BT installed in my truck. I was disappointed to see that the album art would not display. I have been using media monkey for two years now, ever since I got my iPod. It is a 160GB Classic with 1.1.2 firmware. I really love using media monkey but thought I would try Winamp and see if it fixed the album art issue. In short it did. Thanks all for the information on the fix. The album art displayed correctly on the HU. Now I have other issues though. First, the iPod is now very sluggish. I should mention that I have ~18,500 songs on my iPod. If I play an album, the album will try to start but won't. It will skip the first few songs on the album and then start playing on track 4 or 5. That has nothing to do with the Pioneer unit because it will do that just by itself with nothing even plugged into it. So that right there is pretty much a show stopper. But there is one other issue when using Winamp. When the iPod is connected to the unit and you access the alphabetical listing for album or artist, there are no listings. I then when back and reset my iPod and resynced with Media Monkey. The iPod performance is robust, the albums play with no issues and the alphabetical listings are all there on the HU. The only draw back is no album art. And I love to see my album art. :-( What to do? At this moment I am trying to sync with iTunes to see if that will resolve all issues. I hate iTunes with a passion and almost hope it won't fix all issues. Please iPod gods, resolve all these issues without iTunes being the answer.

Just wanted to add more information to the discussion. Maybe we can all find a solution.

Just to update:

I manually put some songs on my daughters iPod Nano with media monkey (drag and dropped) . When the Nano is connected to the HU the album art displays fine. For what ever reason the 160GB Classic will not display the album art when synced with Media Monkey.

I restored the 160GB iPod with iTunes and synced my music with iTunes. Everything is now working fine. I think that is the first time ever that iTunes has bested Media Monkey. :(

Now what am I gonna do?

I am the one who started this thread and feel your pain. I used Itunes :o for a few weeks so my album art would display on the Pioneer. But I eventually went back to MM and no album art, in hopes that it would be resolved soon. It was assigned a bug number so it's at least on the developers radar. http://www.ventismedia.com/mantis/view.php?id=5516
