IPod touch doesn't show up

IPod touch doesn't show up
I'd like to sync my iPod touch w/ MM 3.1. I've downgraded iTunes to 8.1.1 as advised. However, iPod doesn't show up in MMs tree view. The device is configured using the d_iPhone.dll.
Anything what else I could check?
Thanks,
Andi

Re: IPod touch doesn't show up
Andi,
Can you send me a debug log that shows what happens when you plug in your iPod with MM running?
Thx.

Re: IPod touch doesn't show up
Not sure I'm doing this right- I've installed 1247 debug version and used dbgview to generate the log- it contains essentially nothing though, even when (dis)connecting the ipod:

Re: IPod touch doesn't show up
It seems to be because you have already a non-debug version running. Make sure MM isn't running, install the debug version and run the debug version from the installed folder (in case it's different from your standard folder for MM). It should show much more debug messages then.

Re: IPod touch doesn't show up
I've removed MM from my system and reinstalled the 1247 debug version- result is still the same. Either MM doesn't generate more messages, or the 1247 debug build may not be an actual debug version? I've verified that there is no other install...
Re: IPod touch doesn't show up
I'm really sorry if this is stupid, but I've reread the instructions and foudn I have to run "MediaMonkey_Debug.exe". There is no such file in the installed folder.
I have however install http://www.mediamonkey.com/beta/MediaMo ... _Debug.exe and http://www.mediamonkey.com/beta/MediaMo ... _Debug.exe both- neither of which generates more debug info than what I've shown already.
Am I missing something?

Re: IPod touch doesn't show up
It looks like you have some filter (Edit|Filter menu command) set up in your DbgView application. Also the message numbers (8, 16, 152, ...) indicate this, they should be sequential.

Re: IPod touch doesn't show up
Thanks for your patience. I had indeed setup a mediamonkey* filter- thinking I was using procmon...
Nevertheless, logfile is at http://videodb.net/2.log
It shows both iPod connect as well as disconnect. It also shows repeated exception. I can confirm this is caused by MM- exception logging stops when MM is shutdown:
00000829 48.58575058 [8184] New exception:
00000830 48.58575058 [8184] Exception code: 2460516
00000831 48.58575058 [8184] Exception flags: 1677721600

00000833 48.58575058 [8184] (no debug info) Find error: E58B0000
I believe this might be a second issue apart from iPod sync.

Re: IPod touch doesn't show up
To add a little more detail to the exception: it is only shown when the MM window is visible. Is is not present when MM is hidden by another maximized window and it is not present when MM is minimized. Running XP SP2.
Re: IPod touch doesn't show up
The log shows that there failed initialization of QuickTime libraries needed to access iPhone/Touch. Unfortunatelly, we don't have any more details about the reason of failure, it's internal to QT. So, it can only be fixed by trying, e.g. to completely uninstall iTunes+QT and try to install it again. In case it doesn't help, I'm not really sure. Btw, does it work in iTunes?

Re: IPod touch doesn't show up
I will reinstall iTunes and retest.
Is the other exception helpful in any way, i.e. hinting a separate issue? I'm infrequently seing MM crash when closing or stop operations when working with large data sets- maybe there is a connection.

Re: IPod touch doesn't show up
Reinstalled and rebootet- iPod sync working... THANK YOU!
I'm still seeing the regular exceptions generated and have again witnessed MM crash on close- this time with log: http://videodb.net/mm_exit_crash.log

Re: IPod touch doesn't show up
Try to use the release version (i.e. non-debug). There is one known problem with the debug version that could possibly cause the problem you encountered.

Re: IPod touch doesn't show up
Thank you. Was the exception reported in any way helpful? Would be happy to retest if fixed.
Re: IPod touch doesn't show up
Not all exceptions in the debug log necessarily mean a problem, some can normally happen, as it this case.
