Right click on Collection in Tree not focus [#5041 6529

Post by Lowlander »

If a Collection node (ie Music) in the Explorer Tree doesn't have focus you can't right click on it to get it's context menu (I'm trying to edit Collections Options). Once you click on the Collection (ie Music) you can right click on it and get to it's context menu. This only happens for the Collection nodes. Collection subnodes work fine.

My hunch is that this is related to the request that right click shouldn't focus the node as loading certain nodes can take a long while which is unnecessary if user just needs the context menu and not the Tracklisting.

Tested on skinned 1344 on XP. Can anyone else reproduce?

I can right click any node and go to Edit collection, but it always comes up to edit the selected collection.

I can right click a collection and receive the context menu, the issue here (I'm using Vista) is that it's the wrong context menu. However if you "Open in New Tab" you can see that it correctly opens the collection. It seems like it's showing the "Options" portion of the context menu from whatever node is focused. Have the Playlist node selected, then click in the Now Playing pane, right click collection, options -> and you see Edit Views!

EDIT: Yeah, If you have a collection selected (ie Podcast), and then click over to the Now Playing, then right click on another collection (ie Music), you will see Options -> Edit Collection, but it opens up the options for the first collection (in this case, Podcast). Though again, Open in New Tab works correctly.

EDIT 2: I read the title and was mistook it to mean the tree shouldn't be in focus as well as the node. I realize now that the switching to NP panel is an unnecessary step. Duh me.

Same here. That's pretty annoying.
I would expect to edit the collection I'm clicking on.

This is clearly a bug. Or a fault in design.

Yes, we really need these implemented for this to work correctly:

Yeah, those seem to be the cause of this issue. Only if Collection has focus right click gives the correct Context menu.

I hope that they don't drag their feet on this (it was requested in MM3) and just disable selecting node on right click like Windows Explorer. This would allow users to access context menu's of nodes without selecting them.
