1348:choice of columns lost on restart [#7471]
Not sure if it's a bug or me... I choose columns for a certain view (AA + details) and on restart, some have been hidden and other appeared... Same thing with tabs. If I pick different column settings for each tabs it's lost on restart. Can anyone replicate this?
Am I missing something? Do I need to create collections or something? Also, what's the difference between a check mark and a box filled with color when you choose columns?

I reported this a while back--it might not have a specific bug number as it may be related to another bug.

Re: 1348:choice of columns lost on restart
Column choice is remembered here on 1348. I did do a fresh install to make sure old issues aren't causing this.
View isn't remembered, even when using a single tab.

Don't know, this seems to be a bug. The box is normally used to indicate not all sub-items are selected which isn't applicable here.vpsaxman wrote:Also, what's the difference between a check mark and a box filled with color when you choose columns

Re: 1348:choice of columns lost on restart
For column/view issues you might want to try a clean install. I did a clean install of 1348 and several weird issues don't occur anymore for me. The only thing left is that Playlist views aren't remembered as the Music View is used instead.

Clean install means clearing the DB? Or can I backup the DB file and wipe out the rest then after re-install, paste the DB file in AppData?Lowlander wrote:For column/view issues you might want to try a clean install. Re: 1348:choice of columns lost on restart
I would recommend a clean DB or a copy from MM3 as I believe these things are all saved in the database.
You can do a clean install without removing the database, but it might not do the trick: http://www.mediamonkey.com/support/inde ... ticleid=54
PS. ini and DB location has changed from the support mentioned locations.

Just make sure you keep a copy of the DB if you do decided to remove it so you can always revert back to it.

Re: 1348:choice of columns lost on restart
I see a column issue here:
1) Neither Details nor Art + Details have the skipped column enabled
2) Enable Art + Details view
3) Enabled Skipped column
4) Switch to Details view
5) Switch to Art + Details view
6) Skipped column gone
If after step 3 you restart MediaMonkey the Skipped column remains visible. So it seems switching views destroys the column setting.
1) Enable Details view
2) Enable Skipped column
3) Summary column gets enabled
4) Publisher enabled Actors
5) Screenwriter enables Publisher
6) This is all triggered by right click and selecting columns from the list
The details view has an empty column and # enabled but grayed out (in Collection Option it is available).
In Choose Columns the Skipped column doesn't do anything.
Views are remembered taking in account that
1) Playlist Views are set by the Music Collection, any changes made in Playlist are lost, any changes made in Music also change view in Playlist
2) When using multiple tabs the View set in the last tab for that Collection should be remembered.

After a few times restarting MM, I'm back to how things were before the fresh install. I choose a set of columns, put them in order. On restart, a dozen columns I had not chosen have appeared and their order is re-arranged.
