Hi
I used MM4 1348 now for a few days and got the impression that certain db actions are much slower than with MM3. It is very difficult to be more precise here but at least the following I can tell:
- If I do a simple search on the entire collection (40k files), e.g. for "ABBA" it starts to search already for "AB" before I finish typing and of course finds thousands of hits. With MM3 there was more delay before search actually started. Perhaps it should start searching only after the third charackter and should wait for a fourth for a second or so
- when I play any file directly from the node "entire library" my entire library is added to the play list. When I restart MM4 it takes ages to read the large play list. I did not experience such delay with MM3.

Re: speed of DB actions
Hi.
In MM4 this can be configured for each type of content at tools > Options > Player > Playback Rules
Also keep in mind that these versions of Mediamonkey are "debug builds". So it's excepted that they are generally less responsive.

This was the same in MM3. It's based on your playback settings. It's the first thing I change when I reinstall Mediamonkeysopito wrote: - when I play any file directly from the node "entire library" my entire library is added to the play list. 1) Still don't see it with a larger database. And it feels a lot faster than MediaMonkey 3 to me. A debug log send to support might help: http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewto ... ?f=6&t=341

Yes it is exactly this issue. I had it this morning any the days before several times, just now I was not able to reproduce it. Currently I get only short delays which are +- acceptable. This morning I had the system freezing for 15 or 20 seconds. I'll send you the debug, when I can reproduce it.Dreadlau wrote: Maybe you're experiencing the issue reported here: http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewto ... =6&t=55523

Re: speed of DB actions
Hello, yes I am aware of this setting, also im MM3, and in both versions it does the same thing which is fine with me. Just in MM3 it doesn't cause any delay while in MM4 it takes quite a while. If you think this might be attributed to the debuggung mode we need to wait for the final version to test it.Dreadlau wrote:This was the same in MM3. It's based on your playback settings. Hi
I have no generated a debug log on this issue. How can I upload it?
Hat I did: starting MM4 1349, enter "Gould" into the search field, MM4 hangs for over a minute because it starts to search for G*

Re: speed of DB actions [#7410]
Just a comment on reproducibility of this issue: it is most likely always that it starts to search for the first character. Whether or not this causes the system to freeze with a large library very much depends on the circumstances and is not reproducible at all. This is probably due to chaching?Peke wrote:Added as http://www.ventismedia.com/mantis/view.php?id=7410
