I have just recently downloaded the new MM4 and have successfully uploaded my entire music library and synced a subset of my files to my iphone. I carry out the sync by making playlists (this is my preferred way of doing things) then adding those playlists to the auto-sync list. During playback on my iphone, however, I am noticing some strange things that I wasn't before on the previous version. The sync seems to be affecting things 'under the hood' of the iphone OS, database, or whatever. Here's the symptoms:
1. Sometimes the artists do not get organized alphabetically. I can not really discern the pattern of organization, but it may be in the order of my playlist possibly? Also, the alphebetical slider bar, which usually is located to the left (used for easier scrolling through the library) becomes missing when the previous problem occurs.
2. If I partially play a song and then skip to another, when I return to that song later it plays back at the exact same time I left the song previously.
3. Although I have my podcast sync to newest 3/newest 5, I often times get only 1 or 2 entries in each category or sometimes none at all. Also, I notice that there are always some files ready to be added to the iphone even after syncing. It's possible that they are not syncing properly or it may be that the files reside on the iphone but are not appearing properly.
These are all the problems I am having so far. I have found a correction for the first one by simply going into Itunes. When I've had problems with MM3 before, I would do the same and the database would always get fixed (normally the problem would be the 'updating library' screen on the iphone or even the 'no files' after a sync).
I am using a jailbroken iphone 4 running iOS 4.3.3 (the newest iOS). I also experienced these same issues while using a non jailbroken iphone 3G with iOS 4.something (probably 4.2, not the latest). My computer is running Windows 7. I have the latest build (as of June 23).
If there is any remedy, your guidance would be much appreciated. If not, hopefully these issues can be resolved.

Re: Iphone syncing issues
Well, I may have determined the problem with #3 in my list. It seems that when I select '3 most recent' or '5 most recent' It is selecting the 3 or 5 most recent out of my collective podcast subscriptions rather than 3 or 5 from each podcast subscription. The problem goes away whenever I select 'all' although I certainly do not want all episodes of every podcast uploaded to my iPhone.
Can anyone verify this?

Re: Iphone syncing issues
Hi,
1. I can't replicate incorrect sort order on the iPhone/iPod Touch. Tested as follows:
- Sync 5 playlists each containing ~100 tracks.
- On the iPhone, Click 'Playlists' --> verify that tracks in each playlist appear in correct order; Click 'Artists' and verify that Artists display in alphabetic order; Click 'Songs' and verify that songs display in correct alphabetic order; Click 'Albums' and verify that Albums display in correct alphabetic order. In all cases, verify that the scrollbar functions as expected.
If you have any hints about what else I can do to trigger the problem, let me know.
2. This is most likely due to the 'Playback rules' that have been set in MM (by default, Podcasts have bookmarking enabled; but it should be disabled for 'Music'--let me know if that's not the case). You can change this for any file Type via Tools > Options > Player > Playback Rules.
3. I'm able to replicate. Added at: http://www.ventismedia.com/mantis/view.php?id=8029
Thanks!

Re: Iphone syncing issues [#8029]
I've just updated to the newest version and it seems that problem #3 has been fixed already. You guys made quick work of that little bug.
As for problem #2, live bookmarking was indeed set for my 'music' section. I'm not sure if that is a default setting, but I'm thinking it should be turned off by default (just my opinion, some might disagree). I tried unchecking and resyncing, but it seems the solution isn't that easy. I'm currently wiping the songs and reuploading. Hopefully that will fix the problem.
I can't get problem #1 to happen again; maybe it was just an incomplete sync that happened twice.
UPDATE: It seems that Mediamonkey does not actually delete the files on the iphone when they are unselected then resynced. All of the files that were originally on the iPhone are still having the same bookmarking problem. On a positive note, I've added songs not previously on the iPhone and those do not have the bookmark. I'm searching for answers around the web, but if you know any quick way to completely delete these files that would be swell.
2nd UPDATE: Even after a restore I still have problems with files that were previously installed on the iPhone.

Bookmarking is definitely not enabled by default for Music. How did you install MediaMonkey? (upgrade? portable?)

Re: Iphone syncing issues [#8029] [#8049]
I installed MM4 beta (not the portable version) as a fresh install after having recently reformatted my hard drive. This was around June 20th or so and I downloaded the most recent beta. I don't recall ever checking that option under music, but as this was my first preview of the new settings layout, it's possible that I did change it.
I'm glad there will be a fix for the bookmarking problem. I've tried damn near everything (including a restore and a reset) but nothing got the job done!
