My System: notebook intel i5-520UM, win7-x64, music on external HDD connected by eSATA or USB.
File Monitor active for the music folder: Scan continuously.
When i first start MM and afterwards switch on the external HDD the file monitor does not recognise new tracks copied to a monitored directory.
I have to switch on the external HDD before starting MM for the file monitor to work.
I had the same issue already with MM3.
This is pretty "annoying" because whenever i forget about it and copy new music to my monitored folder it does not get added and i do not know about afterwards.
Is there a possibility to fix it?

Hopefully you'll take a look at that issue as well

Make sure that you have locked Drive letter for external Drive.
Unfortunately it looks more complicated than only that

Thanks! My eSATA drive gets always the same letter "T", it is assigned to that drive under disk management. Can i do anything else to make the drive letter "locked" on win7?

I don't use the File Monitor, but I've also had to learn to remember to turn on the external drive (USB, in my case) before starting up MM.
Not sure if this makes a difference, but my external drive is formatted with the ext3 filesystem (Linux), and I use IFSDrive to make it appear as a Windows drive.

Drive manager locks drive letter if you manually set it.
EXT3 and ifsdrive I'm not sure that file changes notifications are corectly returned back to Win.
