[1431] MediaMonkey locks up & corrupts my iPod [#8374]

Post by romeyinfc »

Hello,

I have an iPod video 60gb (gen5, pre-iPod Classic) that I plug into MediaMonkey to stream music and update podcasts. After installing build 1430, MediaMonkey would hang when my iPod was connected. It would never respond, even after waiting for minutes. After force-closing the application and unplugging my iPod, my iTunesDB on my iPod is corrupted, with none of my music/playlists being visible.

Everything is still there and I am able to fix my iPod by plugging it into machines running 1428 and "Rebuild", but this behavior is consistent with 1430 and 1431 across multiple machines.

I have not installed a debugging version, but would be happy to do so, as well as attach any screen shots or supply any additional information.

Thanks,
Jeromey

A debug log send to support would probably be helpful.

Jeromey,

The debug log would be really helpful, but can you also clarify, does it hang as soon as it's connected? Or does it hang upon initiating an auto-sync?

Thanks.

I have a debug file where I launched the app, clicked on "Music" to show it worked, then plugged in the iPod - chaos ensued.

Not quite sure if I can attach debug files, so I uploaded it to my Dropbox: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/80676/MediaMonkeyIpodIssue.zip

I *believe* I don't have my iPod set up to Auto-Sync. I am still syncing it manually at this point, so I believe that this occurs on connect.

Thanks!

Jeromey,

Thanks. Tracked at:

btw, when MM hangs, if you wait 30s or a minute, does the hourglass eventually disappear ?

Thanks Rusty,

The hourglass actually stays ongoing until I kill the process.

Rusty,

1433 did the trick! It's connecting to my iPod just fine! Nice work!

I'm still having issues with my iTouch being corrupted in some way when synching with 1433. It appears that songs which are in a playlist will not play for some reason. This has been the case in the last two versions and I've had to go back to itunes to "reset" things. I'm still researching this (trying to synch without using playlists) and will report back. Not sure what else to tell y'all since I get no error messages from MM or from my touch.

Please let us know what specific model you're using, what firmware version, what version of iTunes, and what specifically you're doing.

I've just tested extensively with an iPod Touch 2G 4.3.1 firmware, without any problems.

Ipod Touch Model number is MC011LL (64 gig), version 4.3.5 (8L1), iTunes 10.4.1.10. I sync with MM and the first window I usually see asks about numerous files that are not in the sync list.....I hit OK and then I'll get two windows (in succession) about songs that cannot be sync'd and if I want to keep as a playlist. This has happened in the past with no adverse affects. In fact everything seems to happen just like it has in past versions of MM only now it seems like a majority of the music is corrupted and won't playback. I'm trying to see what, if any, differences there are between songs that play and songs that are corrupted.

Haven't found any differences in the files that might account for some songs not playing back after synch with MM. I did notice that my firmware version is different from yours Rusty. Could that be the issue?

Irankine,

Can you confirm that build 1432 is working correctly for your iPod Touch?

btw, is anyone else experiencing this problem?
