I've just installed 4.0.0.1448.exe over the top of an existing and working 4.0.0.1439.
Now, when starting MM4, the splash screen comes up for a few seconds, the icon appears in the sytem tray, and then the computer plays the "bump"(something failed) sound, and the startup of MM4 quits, before anything else appears on screen.
I'm on Win XP sp3.
Note: I've installed MM4 in parallel with mm3, in a separate folder. MM3 still works fine.

Hi NoHitter,
I'm on XP, and there is no indication in the post you pointed me to, as to where MediaMonkey.elf is located (only portable and Win7 locations are listed) . I've search a number of places and can't find it. Where is it supposed to be?
I don't specifically have the _debug version. Do I need that installed to have MM generate the report?

Yes. The MediaMonkey.elf file is generated in the MM program folder.peterH wrote:Hi NoHitter,

Re: 4.0.0.1448 : Fails to start after installation
I've downloaded and installed the latest 1449_debug version. Same thing happens.
I've opened a ticket (id= 13418), and uploaded the .elf file there.

Don't know if this makes a difference, but the previous working version that was installed was installed as "Non-skinned", whereas the new non-working version was installed as "Overwrite windows theme (skinned)".

Peter,
Skinning could make a difference, but issue http://www.ventismedia.com/mantis/view.php?id=8488 may resolve it.
Can you please try installing build 1450 (or later) and let us know if it fixes the problem for you?
Thanks.

Note: The issue was related to the program "Actual Multiple Monitors" which causes MM to crash when skinning is enabled.
