Un-consistent Album Artist

Un-consistent Album Artist
I posted that long time ago but it still happens. I download lot of files from Napster and they come in wma format. Then I convert them to mp3 using another application. When i import those files to MM the files wma are fine but mp3 don't show Album Artist in the track list window. This is a little annoing since if you try to run action like get info on those tracks it fails since it's based on Album Artist. Strange thing is those files show correctly Album Artist if I enter song properties window. I can then check box agains Album Artist and update and then everything shows correctly (I don't even have to edit anything in properties window). I know that it wasn't a problem before (till midlle 4.0 version testing) as I was using the same scenario since MM2 and everything was fine till one of the MM4 builds.
Re: Un-consistent Album Artist
Same problem here.
Re: Un-consistent Album Artist
Hi,
Can you send me a couple of tracks for which this occurs (please post to e.g. mediafire and PM me the link).
IMPORTANT: Please verify that the bug occurs for a clean library which scans just the tracks in question.
Thanks.

Re: Un-consistent Album Artist
Michel37,
I received your files, but unfortunately, cannot replicate the problem with them. Perhaps it's related to the WMA files that are also contained within the Library?
Can you (or Aprzybylo) please create a jing video of this, while generating a debug log with dbgview? (try to show dbgview window in the Jing video to help us match up the log to the video).
There have been a few reports of this here and there, and I'm eager to get to the bottom of this.
Thanks.

Re: Un-consistent Album Artist
Aprzybylo,
Thanks for the sample files that you sent. I think I finally understand what you mean. See:
http://www.ventismedia.com/mantis/view.php?id=8599
Note: if I'm understanding the problem correctly, then it's not that serious a bug--MM4 always displays the Album Artist field in the FileList based on the actual contents of the field, whereas MM3 displayed the contents of the Album Artist field in the tracklist even when the field was inferred from the Artist field. I think that the current situation is preferable, although it can be confusing. Hopefully a solution along the lines proposed in #8599 could solve this issue.
Thanks.

Re: Un-consistent Album Artist
I see your point however I still think that the other way around should also be possible (maybe as scan option?) I think this is vary common scenario that somebody imports the song (or set of songs) and next think he tries to tag them with album art etc. So he calls right away GetInfo option. But this call is based on Album Artist. So I have to go to file properties and just do the dummy save to fix that. I know that this is not the end of the world but still a little annoying and I personally liked the MM3 way much better. Like I said scan flag would be great way to fix it both ways.
