[1495] Ratings sync [#9398]

Hi,

Just trying 4.5 for the first time. Up until now I've been syncing via MM Script <> iTunes <> iPhone 4
ios 5.1.1

Started by clearing down itunes (unticking Music, syncing). It left the purchased ones on the phone.
Closed itunes, disconnected phone, started MM, reconnected phone.

Then synced some test tracks over in a playlist in MM. Played one of the tracks and altered it to 5*, then synced again.

Ratings seem to sync ok from MM > iPhone, but if I modify the rating on the iphone it doesn't seem to sync back.

Options enabled :

Delete files/ except: *.mp4,Smart*.pla,*.m4b,*.m4r,*.m4v,iTunes*,*.m4a, confirm deletion
Auto-sync files from pc, confirm updates

Hi, I can replicate this if I doesn't restart MM or re-plug the device, but if re-connect the device after the rating and before the sync then it works correctly and rating/playcount is updated correctly in MM, entered the issue here: http://www.ventismedia.com/mantis/view.php?id=9398

Hi Ludek,

I just noticed that MM syncs the changes back during the 'scanning' phase, not as part of the sync which I was expecting it to do. I've tried de-selecting Scan As Soon As... on the Summary page for the iPhone but it seems to get automatically re-enabled back on again.

Oh dear... also just found that MM crashes out if I unplumb the iPhone ungracefully. I've logged a ticket for it ROE-173687. Seems repeatable for me.

Also just noticed that even if I managed to get the 'Scan as soon as ...' unchecked. When I plug the iphone in, the tree still shows it as 'Adrians iPhone (scanning...)' for a while..

It seems to be reproducable only with full device (including at least 700 tracks in my case) and only once 'Scanning...' is completed.
The workaround is to perform a sync before unplugging.

The former problem is not reproducable for me, if I unchecked the 'Scan as soon as ...' then no scanning is performed until I select the iPhone node. The scanning while iPhone node is selected is expected, because MM needs to scan the content in order to be able to populate the bottom graphical capacity indicator and fill correctly the subnodes of iPhone node (content showing).
