Hello,
There seems to have been a change in how MediaMonkey is syncing non-music media (like Podcasts) after the 4.0.3 version.
I have an AutoPlaylist set up on my library to display all Podcasts (with a rule Genre=Podcast). To sync this over to my 5th-Gen Ipod, I right-click on the Playlist and send it to the Ipod. Having these podcasts in a playlist is important to me, as I'm able to navigate it using my car stereo, as well as being able to delete all of my podcasts at once (I don't use Auto-Sync).
However, after build 4.0.3 it seems that the "Send-To" pushes the playlist and tracks out to my iPod, but the playlist on the iPod no longer contains any of the tracks. I can only access the Podcasts using the "Podcast" tree.
I am wondering if this is designed behavior - to only have music media types available in playlists on a device?
Please let me know if you'd like more information, or if it would be helpful to run the debug version and get a log dump of my behavior?
Thanks,
Jeromey

Hi Jeromey,
Yes--tracks of Type=Podcast are supposed to appear within the podcast tree of the iPod.
If you want to change that behavior, you can change the type of those tracks to 'Music' (i.e. Select all podcasts, right-click Properties, and set Type).
Let me know if that does the trick.

Thanks Rusty,
I appreciate the help! That work-around works in terms of being able to manage the podcasts through a Playlist, but I lose the the bookmarking functionality so I may work through this.
However I am wondering if there is an expectation that users should be able to see all Podcasts by clicking on the root of the "Podcast" tree? Is there a way to delete all the Podcasts on a device without traversing through each Podcast branch?
Thanks,
Jeromey

Hi Jeromey,
The simplest way to manage your podcasts would be using the auto-sync functionality:
- uncheck all podcasts in the autosync list
- check off 'delete all tracks not on the auto-sync list' (autosync settings)
Then click the sync button that appears next to the device. All podcasts (other than those that have been selected for auto-sync) will be deleted.

Re: [1497] Unable to sync playlists containing non-music to
Rusty,
Thanks for all your help. I appreciate you taking the time for providing me quasi-support.
You're right that an auto-sync is an efficient way to only keep the latest podcasts on my iPod. However I don't use Auto-Sync as I sync my iPod up to multiple machines and don't want store the full contents on each machine - thus if use AutoSync, MM will want to wipe out the rest of the music on my iPod. Since the iTunes DB makes the file names so cryptic, there's no easy way to identify podcasts on the delete confirmation screen.
Feature Request: Is there any way that clicking on the "Podcast" tree in the iPod could bring up a full list of the podcasts, just like MM does for the Podcasts on the machine? Currently we have to traverse through each Podcast folder to see the episodes.
I don't know if you guys collect feature requests, but if you do, is there anywhere I can log this? I would be most grateful.
Thanks,
Jeromey
