4.1.0.1609: Selecting external player not working
Running with Mediamonkey beta 4.1.0.1609 on Windows 8 x64. When testing the new feature of controlling an external DLNA render, was unable to play music on any of the available external players. This has been tested against two DLNA renderers as follows:
1. WDTVLive:
When selecting this external player and pressing the play button makes the WDTVLive device show the screen "This is sharing content from Windows", but does not actually start playing and the state of the Mediamonkey play button does not change. This setup works correctly using other applications on the same test computer.
2. Marantz NA7004:
When selecting this external player and pressing the play button makes the device display blank, but it does not start playing and the state of the Mediamonkey play button does not change. This setup works correctly using other applications on the same test computer.
Note that Windows firewall was turned off during testing and the type of music files tested included mp3 and flac.

Re: 4.1.0.1609: Selecting external player not working
Same problem with my Samsung LCD-TV UE40D5700. I can select the Samsung TV as external player, but does not start playing.
Re: 4.1.0.1609: Selecting external player not working
So far I have been unsuccessful too, although the Player (Stop/Play) seem to work, but the tracks played aren't from Now Playing (probably from Playlist loaded manually on TV).

Re: 4.1.0.1609: Selecting external player not working
Actually I found that it works, but you need to play tracks from the Media Servers node.
i.e. you need to play tracks from a media server, it doesn't work for local tracks.
Can you confirm that it works then?

Re: 4.1.0.1609: Selecting external player not working
It will be fixed for local library files in build 1610: http://www.ventismedia.com/mantis/view. ... 090#c33688
Re: 4.1.0.1609: Selecting external player not working
Retested using the MediaServer node (media server is a MiniDLNA server), here are the results:
1. WDTVLive: same result as before no matter what I tried
2. Marantz NA7004: did eventually play (mp3 and flac) after selecting different songs a couple of times. When it did play, the time did not always update on Mediamonkey and selecting the stop button under this condition had no effect - this behaviour seemed to occur more with flac files rather than mp3 files (which may indicate network timing issues as the flac files use more bandwidth). Note that the Marantz NA7004 is wired to my switch as the WDTVLive is wireless.

Re: 4.1.0.1609: Selecting external player not working
OK, I fixed also some other issues (metadata sending to the remote player etc.), so it should work fine in build 1610.
Let me know the results with 1610 once will be available as I tested it on different devices than yours.

Re: 4.1.0.1609: Selecting external player not working
Tested using build 1610. Here are the results:
1. WDLiveTV: Works, but does not always display meta data especially if pausing/unpausing and selecting other tracks.
2. Marantz NA7004: Works most of the time, but when pausing/unpausing or selecting other tracks remote device sometimes stops responding (can get it going again using another DLNA control point). Meta data seems to be ok though.

Re: 4.1.0.1609: Selecting external player not working
I'll try and give some feedback using latest MMW build and Denon AVR-3312CI. I think the PS3 should also be available as an external player. I'll try that too.
Re: 4.1.0.1609: Selecting external player not working
There appear to be some issues when trying to double click a song. It will sometimes begin playing on the Denon but then skip to the next song in the Music Collection. Sometimes it will even skip the second song and go to the third or fourth. This happened on MP3s and FLACs. I did not test HBR FLACs.
It takes a few moments for the Denon to register the change in song. I'm not sure if that's something that's controlled from MMW or not.
The very end of the file, I was attempting to play a 1 hour and 14 minute MP3. I clicked on it several times, and MMW kept skipping to the next file in the Music Collection order. I kept trying to go back, but eventually MMW stopped playing to the external player. The Denon just went back to it's NET/USB Main Menu at this point.
I am attaching the log to the HelpDesk as described http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=69
EDIT: Submitted ticket. Ticket number: WKR-675785

Re: 4.1.0.1609: Selecting external player not working
Tested again using the 4.1.1614 build. Here are the results:
1. WDLiveTV: Works ok with mp3 and wma file. For some reason does not work with flac files - just does not start playing and does not display meta data. After playing an mp3 file and then trying to play a flac file the device starts playing the previous mp3 file.
2. Marantz NA7004: Works perfectly for all tested file formats including flac.
Another observation is that the last song in the album/playlist is continually repeated when using an external player. This does not happen with the internal player.

Thanks for the update, and does WDLiteTV play flac that is selected directly from the MediaMonkey server or it also doesn't play the FLAC?test666 wrote:Tested again using the 4.1.1614 build. Here are the results:

I'm starting to wonder if any conversion takes place. Does the WDLiveTV support FLAC?test666 wrote:1. WDLiveTV: Works ok with mp3 and wma file.
