On start of MM, starts analyzing tracks in background. Status bar gets to song 25 to 30-ish and crashes (slowly), with multiple conhost.exe and MediaMonkeyVHelper.exe processes spawned in short order. In win status bar I see multiple ffdshow audio icons. The Task Manager view below shows the progress of songs 1 through 25 over time. For this testing, I exit MM at song 26 before a crash can occur, then restart MM, hence the saw-tooth effect. The flat memory consumption at the right is when I disabled the background analysis - memory was not released until I restarted MM.
Windows 7 64 bit system. Shark007 codec pack. Submitted a few crash reports, system name IRIS. Crash said something about out of space, but the disks are relatively empty with 150GB free on system drive.
This does not happen while analyzing mp3/flac tracks for leveling. ffdshow is not used for mp3/flac. That said, I have ruled out ffdshow as the problem by disabling it for videos with aac audio. The massive increase in memory consumption still occurs with it disabled, but happens at a slightly lower rate. Also doesn't seem to matter whether LPCM, Dolby Digital, AAC audio. Mix of video files including mkv/x264/aac, mp4/aac, avi/mpeg4/mp3, mpeg2/lpcm, mpeg1/mp2 with no aparent discrimination.
