1190 corrupted album art

Post by argh »

I have an iPhone 3G. When I synced a few playlists the first time, the album art was badly corrupted, partial pictures showing up, many duplicates.

I deleted the playlists, resynced. This time, not as corrupted, but still lots of duplicates. I checked the original files and directories, and everything is sane on the computer side - shows up in MM and iTunes, shows up fine while playing. Its only the iPhone's view that seems borked.

I also have this problem on my iPod Classic 120GB. am using 3.0.6.1190 like you.

loads of duplicates of album art and assigned to the wrong album. I'd prefer to use MM as iTunes is struggling with my 500gb of music.

thanks

Just tried cleaning it out, reloading just one smaller playlist. Probably 30-40% of the artwork is corrupted or incorrect.

It synchronizes correctly in iTunes.
Looks fine in the library.
I synchronized the same music previously to my 160Gb iPod, although I haven't tried with 1190 to that (and am afraid to).

Only corrupted on iPhone 3G.

Has anyone at MediaMonkey been able to repro the bug? Anything I can do to assist?

Thanks..

No. See Jiri's (the main MM developer) posts about the Touch and 2.2:

Please provide the files that Jiri mentions in his above posts. So far many people have complained about this but have not submitted anything to the MM dev team.

Ok, I'll see what I can do.

I'll try for a minimal test case... its a bit tricky, because I don't believe that its particular album art that triggers it, it seems to be the sequence of things sent over. Different syncs result in different corruption.

Rats. Cherry-picking a small set of tracks from the set that had corrupted art in the "big sync" didn't trigger the problem. The art in those tracks seems fine after sync.

Some sort of overflow?

Just out of curiosity, is there any significant codepath difference between selecting a playlist and doing "send to iPhone 3G" vs. marking the checkbox in the auto-sync properties for the device?

You'd have to ask a developer directly. MM is closed-source.

They make appearances, but certainly don't reply to every post made.
