A 'clear library' clears all autoplaylists, not just the playlist entries but the playlist its self.
This is unexpected because on the node tree at the left of the MM window, the
"Playlists" node is not located under the "Library" node.
I would like to use my autoplaylist with multiple libraries......

But other items (i.e. podcasts) are also deleted even though they don't fall under the 'Library' node as well. Perhaps the option could be better renamed to 'Clear database' (as that is the function it's really carrying out).

Re: 'clear library' deletes autoplaylists
I like your 'clear database' suggestion, it would however be nice to have a true 'clear library' too.
The first clears all content, the second clear machine generated content keeping human generated content.

Re: 'clear library' deletes autoplaylists
Actually it might be nice if Clear Library would contain an options window like Maintain Library where one could choose what should be cleared:
* Tracks
* Virtual CD
* Previews
* Tracks (would probably need to delete VirtualCD, Previews and manual playlists as well)
* Playlists (manual playlists would be deleted by deleting Tracks)
* Auto-Playlists
* Manual Playlists
* All
* Podcasts

Re: 'clear library' deletes autoplaylists
I agree with the tenor of this discussion. I just ran the Clear Library function as I wanted to rescan my music database after doing a lot of maintenance on the tags. After I Cleared the Library, I realized to my great disappointment that this action deletes my Playlists as well. This was unexpected to me because the "Playlists" item is not subordinate to the Library item in the left panel.
After thinking about it for a minute, I do understand why the Clear function deletes the Playlists. My request is simple: In the dialog that the user sees before he commits to running the Clear routine, could the warning text be changed to emphasize that not only will the track entries be removed (i.e., the stuff under the Library header), but also the Playlists will be deleted? (And anything else that may not be obvious to the unsuspecting user?)
I know you can export the Playlists en masse, but the user needs to know to do that ahead of time. If he doesn't suspect the playlists will be deleted with the Clear Library function, he won't know to save his playlists.
I know better now, of course. I'm thinking of the people who haven't yet made this mistake.

Re: 'clear library' deletes autoplaylists
perhaps the program should ask if you want to save the playlists before clearing the database, that would be easier for everyone who had to deal with lost playlists. That is really the only thing that you loose, the library itself is only cleared.

Hi
I have just noticed that the message which appears when performing "clear database" is confusing or wrong. As soon I click on "clear database", it says:
). The message above should state clearly, that it does not delete playlists.
Btw, are my 36 playlists the reason why the DB is still about 3MB of size after clearing it?

Just checked and both Playlists and AutoPlaylists (other than the default ones) were removed here.

Yeah, you're right. I cleared the db on an other MMW installation and got the playlists removed as well. I believe that I am dealing with a corrupt DB. I'll delete it to get a new one.
My first post can be ignored. Thanks.
