1282 Burn playlist to DVD omits repeated tracks [#6342/6343]

Post by chrisjj »

When I burn a playlist to a Data DVD (right-click playlist in the tree and click Send to ... CD/DVD (Burn)), MM omits any track repeats.

E.g. if the same short silent track appears as a spacer four times, only the first gets included.

No such problem occurs when burning an audio disc.

Workaround: replace the repeats with file copies of the original track.

I think someone recently reported the same.

I'm trying some testing and it seems if you setup a sync with a playlist with dupe tracks and sync it, it doesn't work either. I tried syncing to a SD memory card and the status shows syncing 1 of 1 when I have 3 times the same track.

I too find Auto-sync does not copy repeats: http://img682.imageshack.us/img682/492/picmf.png

... and it messups the Auto-number - reported as bug at http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewto ... =7&t=49338

Workaround for both: Send to ... : http://img202.imageshack.us/img202/6123/picw.png

This is getting annoying as it did used to this but stopped (possibly after the last update). There is no reason for MM to automatically remove these duplicates - at least ask first!!!!!

Thanks LL.
I suggest the sync issue entry clarify that "Sync" means "Auto-sync".

On a playlist having two references to a single track file, I find Auto-sync creates on the device a playlist having two references to a single track file. This works fine. This is what I would expect. I see nothing to suggest that the non-creation of a second copy of the track file is a failure.

But surely that doesn't resolve a burn issue? When playing a disc, that duplicate track is physically not played and therefore the issue still occurs. They are there when they are sent to burn but are not in the preview pane just before the disc is created.

The playlist was merely used to select the tracks to be synced. How else would you force to sync the same track twice?

I think not. MM does not support that. You will find that MM synced the playlist itself as well as the tracks.

I wouldn't. One copy <> two copies is not what I'd call "sync".

Actually I wasn't even syncing the playlist, I never do. I just wanted to test the DVD issue without burning a disc and as I suspected it worked the same way.

The user still should be able to sync the same track twice if it's twice in a playlist. Some users/players don't use playlists and would still like to have the track twice, just as some users want it twice on a CD/DVD.
