playlist selection flips under Win 7

Post by beg »

Hi,

I recently changed OS on all my computers from Win XP to Win 7.
(I use mm gold version 1297)

A problem which I experienced on my new HP Notebook first (and thought it has sth. to do with the notebook) appeared now on my workstation too, after changing to Win 7:

When selecting some songs (e.g. 3-5) within a (normal, not auto) playlist not always, but quite often (every 3rd/4th time) the order/sequence of songs flips. I did not figure out how they move depending on how many songs were selected, but they change position within the selected songs very often. And this is very very annoying because the order is VERY important to me and sometimes very hard to restore if you did not get which songs moved where and you don't know the order by heart before it happened.

So this never ever happend to me under Win XP but does happen regularaly on my different computers under win 7! :( On very different hardware (laptop, workstation, different pointing devices..) - so it should not be a matter of hardware.

hopefully you can figure out what this is, why it happens and find a solution..

Can you clearly explain how to reproduce the issue? I'm not sure I follow you.

Are you saying that by merely selecting a few songs in a playlist that the order of the selected or all songs on the playlist is reversed?

Are you sure you're not accidentally clicking a column header?

Yes the position of the songs within the selection is changing now and then when I select some songs in manual playlists.
Position is changed only within/around the selected tracks - not all..

I am sure I am doing the same I did for many months in MM and Win XP without any problem.

ok, I installed the debug version as suggested for my other problem and I reproduced the changing of selected songs with debuging on.

I played a song and selected 3 or 4 songs several times. At the last selection two songs changed position within the selection. Maybe you can reproduce that and what happend in the debug infos.

But how can I submit the debug info without posting this to the world here?

And I reproduced this once more and now I can tell what happend this time:

I selected 3 songs next to each other with track # 3 7 6 and the moment when I selected the songs the selection switched to track 3 6 and 14 (which was the next in playlist) and track 7 went above the selection being unselected.

mm support asked me to get this on video - why this can help for finding the problem, but I did it get it on video.

http://www.screentoaster.com/watch/stUE ... n_changing

I am selecting tracks for a minute when it happened the first time. so in the end of the video watch closely - you will see the track position changing when I mark the 3 tracks near to the end of the video..

it is during the 4th selection in playlist temp divers at ~0:45 seconds

this is VERY annoying for me since the order of tracks is extremely important for my work and it all gets messed up with this behaviour of MM under win 7.

so you got description, debuging and video for that problem! Hopefully you manage to come up with a solution for that..
