I am a DJ and I have recently started using Mediamonkey to organize my Collection. It is a great tool that I wouldn't want to miss anymore and I aquired Gold after 2 Months of usage. I did have some problems, but I have been able to solve each of them with the help of this forum. However, recently something happened that appears to be really bad news for me:
During a gig i placed a loop on a track that I knew was correctly analyzed for tempo (I use that loop on the track regularly), so I didn't bother to check the loops length. When the first repetition was over, the loop ended too late, enough to turn the mix into a trainwreck. I recovered emergency Style (play that Dancehall Horn! *Hoooonk*) and it turned out alright, however, when I later looked into the problem, I noticed the bpm value was truncated: What should correctly have been 132.79 bpm was set to 132 bpm. This caused my DJ software to misplace the loop.
The only Software that I allow to access my tracks are Mp3tag, Scratch Live, Traktor II Pro and Media Monkey, no other peace of Software gets at them to avoid problems with overly helpful programs. I can basically guarantee the problem does not lie with Mp3Tag (which I have used for ages) or Scratch Live (Which I have used for ages either and fow which it would be suicide to truncate the files) or Traktor (Which I havent started in a year or so). I tried to reproduce the problem in MM but It seems to happen seemingly randomly to me. Possibly while moving or renaming files over MM.
Please look into this. A normal user doesn't give an about the exact bpm, and why should he. But for DJs, this is crucial. And honestly, for file management of large collections, MM is unchallenged. I say this confidently, since I literally evaluated every player I could get my hands on. I do not want to change back, but this problem might force me
Any help is appreciated, thank you very much! If I can do anything to aid in solving this problem, please let me know.
