Sheet music in MM / Error in .png?

Sheet music in MM / Error in .png?

Post by willyvds »

I would like to add sheet music to songs.

I have found a format which my music scoring program can write and which MM can see: .png
Unfortunately, in MM the whle sheet looks black.

Do you have an idea how I could do this (either by .png or in another way)?

Regards, Willy

I have tried to add a test .png file to MM and it seems that MM "ignores transparency completely".
See: http://entropymine.com/jason/testbed/pngtrans/

When I add the test .png to a song in MM, it shows as the version without fading. Could this be the explanantion?

It's definitely the reason.

Error in .png

I think MM doesn't handle .png files correctly, see: http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewto ... =1&t=71621

Thanks Nohitter. I have reported it as an error.

If there are ideas how to link sheet music to songs via MM, I am still interested!

You could just load the png files into any image editor, re-save as a .jpg or .bmp file with a white background, and then load into MM.

Also: I'm not certain that MM really does this wrong. Did you actually load the png file in MM via the "Add" button at Properties > Artwork?

If you just use copy/paste or drag and drop a png into MM, it's expected that the file is all black. That's because when you use copy/paste or drag/drop in Windows for an image, it's converting the file to a bitmap image (bmp). those files don't support transparency so any transparent area is changed to black.

That's a good idea, thanks.

I did actually add the test file via artwork/add, but as soon as I add it I can see it goes wrong. You can also try it yourself with the test .png in the link I provided.
It has been accepted as an error, so I think one of the staff verified it.
