Removing from virtual CD sets file size to zero [#12778]
I keep all of my media on a NAS and use the virtual CD function to as a local cache for a few tracks at a time. When I remove a track from the Virtual CD MM sets the file size in the database to zero bytes even though the original file still exists. I presume this is because the feature is designed for ripping from CDs but the file size shouldn't be reset if the original file is not from an audio CD.
Re: Removing tracks from virtual CD sets file size to zero
How are you removing the file from VirtualCD and which version of MediaMonkey?
I tried with MediaMonkey 4.1.8RC and removed a track VirtualCD copy through the Properties window and the file size remains unchanged.

Re: Removing tracks from virtual CD sets file size to zero
Apologies, I forgot to include the essentials. I'm running MMW 4.1.8.1744 but suspect that it is a long running issue. I have had tracks showing 0 bytes for years but only recently noticed that this action is the cause. I did update to 1745 briefly but had to roll back due to an unrelated issue.
I'm removing tracks by navigating the media tree to [collection] --> Virtual CD, then selecting tracks and pressing delete (or right clicking and selecting remove) to get the popup confirmation asking 'Do you really want to remove x tracks from Virtual CD?' Perhaps the issue is occurring because this function would delete the original file on anything other than the Virtual CD node so it presumably shares some of the code.
Removing the tracks in this manner doesn't set the size to 0 every time but based on the testing I've done since I discovered the link last night it's about four times out of every five.
Since you suggest it, I tried removing the tracks through the Properties window and that didn't change the file size. That gives me a reliable workaround but it's not as efficient as selecting and deleting through the VCD node, especially when removing large quantities of tracks.

Re: Removing tracks from virtual CD sets file size to zero
No joy, can't reproduce that way either.
If you can, capture it in a debug log (step 4b) and send to support: http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=69
