Global hotkeys for internal player

Post by arg0 »

Hello,
I'm new to the forum. I'm posting because MM is my favourite mp3 app,
but I have some annoying problems with global hotkeys.
I'd like to access some basic player funcions (play, pause, skip song, vol)
of the *internal* player with some global hotkeys (which will work also if MM is minimized).
I tried with the Winamp gen_hotkey plugin (http://www.geocities.com/vassili_bourdo ... index.html)
but, I have problems with Ctrl-Alt-Function combos, which work with plain
WinAmp. Ctrl-Shift-Function combos work well.

Any hints? are there internal hotkeys they conflict with?
Is there another plugin I could use?

I already use Ctrl-Sh combos for other purposes, and there's no Win key on my kb :o, that's why I'm asking.

Cheers,

Global Hotkeys

Glad to hear you're enjoying MediaMonkey!

First of all, I think that Global Hotkeys would be a desired feature, one that I hope we'll implement when we make hotkeys configurable. Until then, the plug-in you posted seems really useful.

In the meantime:
-The online help has a 'Keyboard Shortcuts' entry that describes all current shortcuts--including the Ctrl-Alt functions. We'll need to check why why the Ctrl-Alt-Fn combos don't work.
-Current shortcuts also support multemedia keyboards. They are available pretty cheap and could be a nice way to access MM functionality globally.
-To test the multemedia keyboard functionality we used a multemedia keyboard emulator. It might be another means for you to use the keyboard combinations you desire. It's at:

MediaMonkey - Global Hotkeys

Post by Macaca »

Hi,

I uploaded the .dll for MediaMonkey - Global Hotkeys [gen_hotkey.dll] as mentioned by arg0 in the earlier post as the site is down...

Installation :
Copy the file into plugins directory in Media Monkey, and restart .. it shows up under "General Plugins"..
Download Link

PS : I have successfully configured hotkeys for Volume up/down, Next and Previous tracks, unable to bind the "Play/Stop" though, so I am settling for "pause" to Play/Stop currently.

Just wanted to say I had the same problem with my Micrsosoft Entertainment Desktop 7000, and solved this by unistalling, and reinstalling. Works smoothly now.
