Cannot play streamed mp3s

Post by Zulan »

Hi!

I'm using MediaMonkey 2.5.3 and it doesnt seem to be able to handle mp3 streams from services like Kplaylist or Jinzora. Winamp does this brilliantly.

I don't get an error meesage or anything, it just doesnt play it.

Any ideas?

Not all types of streaming media are supported. What type of streaming media do those sites use.

The question is if copying the right plugins would enable streaming from those sites. I don't know the answer to that.

Try Winamp's in_mp3.dll plugin in MediaMonkey and see how that works.
Extensions: ExternalTools, ExtractFields, SongPreviewer, LinkedTracks, CleanImport, and some other scripts (Need Help with Addons > List of All Scripts).

I copied the in_mp3.dll from my winamp/plugin dir to the mediamonkey/plugin dir. But it still doesnt work. I then checked the plugin options and it doesnt seem to "see it", it's not there in the list with the other input plugins like in_wav.dll, in_wma.dll and so forth.

After adding a plugin to MM's plugin directory, you have to restart MM.

It works for me:

BTW: Better not install too much plugins if you don't need them, as it will slow down MM startup. But I need them all .

I did restart MM, but still no go. Maybe I need a different version of the dll file. Mine is exactly (308 224 bytes) large, taken from Winamp 5.24. How large is yours?

Ok, I solved the problem. I renamed the in_mp3.dll from winamp to in_wmp3.dll overwriting the original.

It would be really nice if MM could show on the slider where I am in the song like it does when you play any regular mp3 not streaming it... Any ideas?

I solved it by upgrading the latest winampn and then copy the mentioned file from there...

Try the in_mpg123 plugin from otachan, which you can download here: http://home.pages.at/big_berny/in_mpg123.zip

Just extract it into the plugin folder, it should be activated automatically since its name is in_!mpg123.dll ("!" is load first). Here it works. To uninstall it simply delete the this file.

I tried this stream http://live-one.dmd2.ch/virus/virus_bo.m3u and it showed the bitrate.

By the way this plugin also support gapless playback and much more.

I was a little too quick there. It solved the problem with not showing bitrate, but it removed the slider showing where in the song I am. Still, I rather have the bitrate showing then the slider, but both would be really nice.
