Disable Delete from Computer

Post by Aprilnz »

This may seem like a silly question, but I can't figure out if this is possible. I want to disable the delete from Computer option as a number of people use my PC, and I have noticed a few songs are now missing. I assume they have hit delete to remove from the Now Playing list, but have misread the confirmation and accidently removed the song/s from the PC completely. I hope it is that and someone isn't deleting them out of spite

If anyone can point me in the right direction that would be awesome.

"Party mode" disables the ability to alter and delete files and can be password protected.
click on help and search for party mode for more info

Is there anyway to remove the option completely? I know of the party mode function, just not good with the "remembering" to put it on function involved haha

There are MMphiles more knowledgeable than me. However, I think that Party Mode would be your only option within MM.

Maybe within Windows itself you could disable users other than yourself to be able to delete files.

If you defaulted to PartyMode and only exited party mode to edit, with your password, that would solve your problem.

Either that or exercise more control over who has access to your 'puter

Yeah, in MediaMonkey you can't disable it (besides Party Mode), but through Windows you could set user rights and disallow users to delete or modify tracks.

The problem with Party mode is that it disables everything.

It would be quite useful to have an option (password protected), within MM, to disable the deletion of tracks.

In terms of security it's best to disable the Windows users rights to delete tracks as otherwise users could delete them through Windows Explorer.

In any case for local files the tracks are deleted to the Recycle Bin (if so setup in Windows and if it's not full).
