iPod Nano Chromatic (4th Generaion) Album art
With regard to the nano chromatic (4th Generation)
I am having a problem with album art.
I loaded a few songs via MM that have the album art in the tag. I noticed that the album art did not show up on the device.
I deleted the songs and loaded them to the device using iTunes. The album art was there and all was accurate.
I then shut iTunes and opened MM and loaded one song (different one) with album art and discovered that no album art was available even on the previously successful ones loaded via iTunes.
OK.. so to verify.. I deleted the device content.. and then..
Loaded about 75 songs from iTunes and all the album art was there and the device was accurate with songs and album art, etc..
I then Loaded a different single song with album art via MM, and the device now has no album art on any of the songs. It is apparent that when I use MM to load the songs, it corrupts some DB or Thumb DB regarding the album art.
This is obviously something that needs to be addressed as the newer devices are becoming more intuitive with album art, etc.. and we tend to rely on the look as well as the functionality of the album art.
To take a logical stab at the issue I would suspect that MM is altering the DB at some level which is not cohesive to the new nano chromatic, but is on previous versions, as i use MM with full success on my 160GB iPod Classic.
Any thoughts or suggestions?

Re: iPod Nano Chromatic (4th Generaion) Album art
Forgive me I forgot to mention that I am using the latest MM version 3.0.4.1185.
Yes MM is working fine for the device except for the album art. Which is moderately crucial considering the device is really a graphical device and the album art adds a presence to the experience.
I have become used to it. Sometimes using it as a tool to quckly discern the album the track is from. Sometimes out of sheer memory I can look at the album art and know exactly the songs and style, etc...
Hopefully a quick fix is in the works.

Re: iPod Nano Chromatic (4th Generaion) Album art
I suppose it should not be too complicated. The latest patched version of ml_ipod already works perfectly with the nano 4G, including of course the artwork.
Re: iPod Nano Chromatic (4th Generaion) Album art
We have already ordered one device for testing, so this should be fixed in a week. If you want to make it faster, you can try to e-mail me USB ID of this new iPod, it can be found e.g. by Find Device button in Generic USB device plug-in configuration in MM.
Thanks,
Jiri

Re: iPod Nano Chromatic (4th Generaion) Album art
The USB ID as returned by MM is:
VID_05AC&PID_1263
Thanks for keeping up the good work, MM is really the best music organiser!,

Ok, I uploaded a testing version of the updated d_iPod.dll to http://www.mediamonkey.com/beta/d_iPod.dll . It possibly could successfully sync album art, but note that it's completely untested, since I don't have the new iPod yet.

Great! It works!!!
However now there are two ipod devices which appear: "ipod nano" and "ipod". They appear both at the left window in the device arborescence, and in the "send to" menu when I right click in the song or album. I chose "ipod nano" for the synchronisation and it worked!!
When I eject both devices disappear,

OK, my fault. I renamed the old plugin to d_ipod.dll.old but it got loaded anyway. Now I removed it from the Plugins folder and everything works like a charm,
Thanks a lot Jiri for your effectiveness!!,

Re: iPod Nano Chromatic (4th Generaion) Album art
Hi,
I have tested more extensively the plugin now and the play count does not seem to synchronize.
When I transfer lots of albums, some of the artworks will be corrupted, with some kind of image resembling TV static,

What are "lots of albums" and how does the play count suffer in detail. I am curious to try and replicate this.gustavo wrote:Hi,

Re: iPod Nano Chromatic (4th Generaion) Album art
OK.. I was able to delete my ipod completely and load 75 new songs. The same thing is occurring on my ipod. Album art is erratic and not the same all the time. Usually the 1st song played in the album, regardless of actual track number is accurate, but subsequent track album art for same album played in the album is video noise.gustavo wrote:Hi,

I am not sure of play count or what you were in reference to, but the album art was I all I noticed.
I will look further.

Please let me know in case you find out anything more about the problem. In case you find which tracks cause the problem, please e-mail them to me.

Re: iPod Nano Chromatic (4th Generaion) Album art
Am not sure it is specific tracks. I have loaded various tracks, and the problem is the same. The album art is erratic and random.
Example: If I have an album on there called "test" and this album has 10 tracks, each with album art in it's tag; when I select cover flow you will see the album art. When I select any one track from the album you will see the art, but... when I select any subsequent tracks from the album the art image is corrupt. So if my 1st view is track 5, I will see the proper album art. If my 2nd view is track 2, the album art will be corrupt, but, If I go back to menu and start over by selecting the album fresh, and then choose track 2 as my 1st choice it will be correct, and any subsequent choices will be corrupt, including the previous correctly viewed album art from my 1st viewing.
Hope this makes sense.
Also not only is is corrupt mostly, but I have found that the art is not always the right one.
I suppose we might have to wait till you get a device of your own to test. If I can be of further service, let me know.
Thanks,
James...

Re: iPod Nano Chromatic (4th Generaion) Album art
Yes, I found the same problem. For some albums the artwork is mixed up.
