Unable to burn Audio only CD

I am using Vista home premium with a quad core processor and 5gigs of memory. I am using MM 3.0.4.1185 gold. I can no longer do even a single audio track. I can, however, do data tracks with no problem. I have tried disabling the Avast anti virus. I do enable leveling and CD text. The bar appears at the bottom saying it is writing. At that point, the DVD writer will speed up and continue indefinitely. You can not, via task manager or any other normal means, stop it. If I reboot, it will shut down the monitor but not the CPU. Occasionally, when attempting to burn, the drive fails to speed up but stills hangs up.

Yes! I just installed Roxio Creater 9.1 and it works perfectly. I did this to eliminate drive issues.

I still cannot burn an audio CD with this copy of MM (3.0.4.1185). If you can not help with this, can you tell me which files to backup besides the DB and ini if I reinstall MM?

Those are the only 2 files you should backup. However, even if you reinstall MM, those files won't be affected anyway.

Should I Uninstall this MM or can I install over it? Uninstalling MM will not erase the two files mentioned?

If you install over it the files are unaffected. If you uninstall I believe both files aren't deleted - I know MM.DB won't be but the .ini file might be removed. I'm not sure. I've never uninstalled MM

I installed 3.0.6 over MM3.0.4.1185. I still cannot burn an audio CD. The DVD writer still spins up and you cannot shut down the computer without a hard boot.
