Hey guys an gal :D

this thread seems the most appropriate place for me to speak to my impressions and concerns as a fledgling user of MONKEY THE GREAT. I'm coming from WMP11, but surprise suprise I'm an audiophile. I may be the only audiophile using WMP in the history of computer audio :o When I switched from USB SPDIF converter HagUSB to Empirical Audio OffRamp 3 (so I could go "HighRes"), I experienced snap/crackle/pop-ville, not so good, and HDTracks (which has a great selection of hi-res downloads) recommend the MONKEY, and the MONKEY sounds GREAT. No pops and much better sound than WMP even playing lossless CD rips which are not "high res”. Now I can hear what hi-res audio is all about !

I am also a photographer and I will just mention also there is no serious file organizer program that does not lead with thumbnail overview. It is the fastest way to search large image databases. Fairly small icons and a scroll bar, easy does it. Text based organizers are nearly useless for this purpose, and I submit Media Monkey desperately needs a cover art thumbnail interface. Why? Because the Monkey has an opportunity to become the most popular 'high end’ media player for music collectors using WinTel boxes!! I haven't used CoverFlow, it looks great from a distance, but where’s the overview? WMP11 has a great simple icon overview quickly organized by album, artist, genre, and easy searches. It falls down on full art and liner notes, but for ease of use I recommend any developer who has not seen it to take a look.

Another issue (off topic to this thread, but since I'm here already) - when I first used the Monk I imported a sample WMA library and could see no immediately apparent way to make heads or tails. Ummmm - tha's a problem for me, and who knows how many other potential Monkey lovers 8)

If my comments are uninformed my apologies. I am a newbie user, just out the blocks. Even if so the fact I may have missed the features I need speaks to user interface, so...

best of luck

EDIT: well I figured it out, what can I say, guess I was dumbed down by WMP!

Click on the Library > Artist node and all your tracks should be shown with their album thumbnail if one of the Album Art views is enabled.
