Album Art not saved to all tracks

Post by Agouti »

When adding album art, if Update tags when editing properties is turned off, only the last selected track (i.e. if you select track 1, hold shift and select to track 20) has the album art saved to it (Checking Apply to all tracks on album has no effect). Synchronize Tags does not update the album art for the other tags, neither does any combination of saving to folder or direct to tag. If the track are selected and checked (properties->album art), the album art shows up but when the tracks are selected individually it does not (except for the single track to which it was applied).
Also note that any scripts which add album art (that I have tried) also have the same issue.

Consistently reproducible , Vista Ultimate x64, SP2 (also occurred on SP1), 8GB RAM, 2 HDD (music on C:\ in native SATA, one other IDE), 1 DVD Drive, 3.1.0.1256 Gold, SHIBATCH mpg123 v1.18y ot112.1 (current), myLCD/WVS. Note that also had this issue before patching from last version approx 9 months old (not sure of the actual version no.).

In addition, (though I suspect this is more the MP3 decoder than MM) editing of tags (with Update tags when editing properties on) restarts the songs instead of pausing briefly (as happens with default decoder)

I have a similiar problem.

When editig tags of files in MM 3.1.0.1256 they are written to the database but not the file itself.
Even synchronizing the database with the files has no effect.
If I do a gain analyzis, I found the values in the database, but not in MP3Tag where I should see tag beginning with "REPLAYGAIN_"
And this happens with every other single tag I want to edit.

In MM 3.0.x everything worked fine.

In my opinion the whole tag writing (in regards to now playing tracks) is flawed either way - you wither have to cop playback interruptions when tagging current song (this happens to me a lot, I have global hotkeys set for track ratings) or turn off writing to tags and have to synchronize (or with this bug have tags not written at all)

Why can't there just be an option which will write to tags as per normal, but for a track playing just wait until playback has finished then write?

As in have a event on the track stopping playing (changed tracks, track finished, paused or stopped) which writes the tags?

@FreaQ
Make sure that "Update tags when editing properties" is enabled under Tools > Options > Tags & Playlists. If that fails make sure you have write access to the tracks.

Try changing the output plugin under Tools > Options > Output Plug-ins, this often solves the issue.

@Lowland

If it was so easy I would have find it by myself. ;)

But seriously. It is checked and was always checked.

So this must be another Problem.

Are you sure you have write access to the files? Do any changes stick, do the time stamps of the files get modified when you edit them?

Sure I have write access. I know how to handle files.

And yes I the timestamp of the files is changing, but the tags are not written. Just in the database.

In the attached Picture you yee what I mean.

MediaMonkey shows the Track Gain is -4.0dB
But Mp3Tag does not showw the tag "REPLAYGIN_TRACK"
