Like everyone else on this board, I want MM for the mac: but I see no signs of it happening anytime soon.

So, not to be beaten, I want to take the step of running Parallels or VMWare Fusion or ??? so as to access MM on my new mac.

However, I'm not in the least technically minded and really need an idiots guide to:

1. Setting up MM using software that mimics WIndows.
2. Hooking up my external hard drive to the mac (which is where all my files reside)
3. Synching my ipod with MM on the Mac
4. Avoiding any itunes conflicts

If anyone has done this and can walk me through, I'd be very grateful...

If anyone is interested in vmware fusion, I just found a link on slickdeals for $20 (after $10 rebate). http://forums.slickdeals.net/showthread.php?t=1195501. I am in no way affiliated with any site selling or advertising this software - it is a fantastic deal and i figured i'd post it for you guys.

ok, i think this is quite a stupid idea, if you have a mac you are content with inferior software AND hardware, and with being an idiot. i pride myself that MM is only on pc, and i dont care what anyone else thinks. MM was built for windows, and it should stay that way. although a mac with MM would make the mac only mostly useless.

From the dev's standpoint: A poll like this is for gauging interest. It's misleading to vote for 'both' if you're only going to be using one. That being said, In general, I'm against cross-platform GUI software. Look at FileZilla or any program using SWT (e.g. Eclipse or Azureus aka VUZE). Even on Windows, where these programs look best, they're still ugly and heavy-weight.

Each platform has its own windowing model and its own interface metaphors, and using a multi-platform API breaks some part of the interface that is platform-specific.

I'm not opposed to having a linux-only flavored MM, but I won't be using it. If you were working on some server-based headless version of MM (web based?) then I'm all ears (in fact, this is my dream version of MM). Once you add an uggo cross-platform GUI, I'll probably still end up using it, but it wouldn't be ideal.

Ok, so enough of the hate back and forth.

Any chance of getting an official reason from MM about why no Mac OSX version of their awesome software?
Is because of programming/development issues?
Cost?
Is Apple licensing / threat of lawsuit stopping them?
Is Steve Jobs going to come down and bring fire and brimstone?

Please, no joking (although the last line was a joke, i know).

or has anyone been able to convert some of the MM scripts to apple script to use in the meantime?

Anything? Please!

Why do I want Mac/`Nix support?

* iTunes is not terribly flexible or efficient (we have well over 1000 ripped-from-CD disks in our online collections) in correcting issues with downloaded artwork or tags (which are bad for older rock/blues/jazz and horrid for classical)
* We maintain two iTunes libraries (Mac) and an rsync-ed version for SlimDevices streaming and remote access (FreeBSD)
* Running a PC emulation on a Mac is just as bad for security and stability as running the real thing

Count me in. I love my MAC, but like others have said the one thing I truly miss is Media Monkey. I have a huge music library and iTunes is just horribly slow and limited. I would absolutely pay for Media Monkey on the MAC.

:o that last statement makes no sense

Windows fanboy perhaps?

Whats the official word on MM coming to OS X?

I have an MM gold license, but switched to the Mac. I'm running MM in Parallels now, would love to have MM on the Mac!
