music collection and database on pc and laptop

Post by beg »

Hi,

I read media monkey help and some forum posts about synchronisation, but did not get an idea how to deal best with my situation.

I want to use my music collection organized in manual folders (not one folder with interpret/album/title..) with media monkey via network on my workstation and the same music collection with the same library/database on a external harddisk with a laptop.

Background is that I use to work with the music most on my workstation at home and use it via network, but have to use everything now and then on the laptop for djing. Therefore it should also be possible the other way round - changes made on the library on the laptop getting effective back on the workstation at home.

One solution I'd go for if possible: I'd synchronize the music collection with a synchronisation tool and copy the mediamonkey database on the laptop. Then it's necessary to change the driveletter/folder where to find the music and I don't know how to do that part.
But I am open to any other working solution.

So basically I'd need the same mediamonkey database and music collection on two different computers.

I am using version 3.1.0.1256 of media monkey gold.

thx for help and suggestions,
Bernhard

Hi,

is this so trivial nobody gives an answer? Or too difficult so there is none - don't think so..

So please give me a short notice where to find a good way to deal with that situation!

thx,

I'm having a hard time working out exactly what you want - couldn't you just have the collection and MM on the external HDD, so that whichever computer you plug it into you have the collection available?
