iTunes 9.0 Compatibility

Re: iTunes 9.0 Compatibility
Jiri,
Thanks for the fast turnaround. That's what I'm talking about.
Confirmed:
itunes 8
MM beta 1266
iphone OS 3.1
iphone 3G
d_iphone.dll 764kb 9/16/09 release
WORKS
...and just to be thorough it IS backward compatible with 3G's and 3GS's running iphone OS 3.0.
We are NOT UPDATING to iphone OS 3.1 on our other devices or itunes 9 until jailbreak compatibility questions are clear.
If there is anyone who has not jailbroke, I highly recommend it.
There is no way I could go back to standard Apple Apps only...the ability to run programs in the background with "Backgrounder" alone is critical and worth the "geeky" drama of getting it installed. Nothing in the Apple releases justifies losing current jailbreak capabilities.
Wish the community of Apple product users were as "independant minded" and PC users....Vista sucked, no one implemented it, MSFT fixed things and built Windows 7.
Problem is the leverage is though...the devices are undeniably superior, and we want them, so with their current business model they have us hostage. Support the jailbreak community and independants like MM and possibly- once the devices become commoditized- that will hit them in the pocketbook enough for them to pay attention.
Thanks again Jiri.

Re: iTunes 9.0 Compatibility
Thanks Jiri!!!
I learned my lesson after 3.0 update, I loaded my Iphone with a bunch of music to hold me over until you got the patch out. I knew you'd fix the problem, was definitely not expecting it this quickly. Thanks! I didn't lose any of the music that was on the device, though after the first sync with the new .dll the phone rebuilt the library (took about 2 mins with 10Gb of music).
OMG, it synced ratings from the phone to MM !!!?!!! Is that something that got fixed a while back that I missed or did you just do it? Excellent work MM team.
Setup:
Vista Ultimate 32bit
MM 3.1.2.1266 beta
Itunes 9 (boo)
Iphone 3G OS3.1

Re: iTunes 9.0 Compatibility
I tried system restore and still could not get MediaMonkey to load! It's insane. But like odumrf I don't need iTunes... but I do need MediaMonkey!odumrf wrote:This may sound simple but I just used system restore and rolled back to pre itunes 9. installation. It worked fine, MediaMonkey functionality came right back. iTunes doesn't work but so what, it wasn't what I primarily used anyway. I can get along without it until they fix whatever they messed up.
I now have MM starting up (which is an improvement) but am experiencing lots of error messages during use. I have yet to attempt to synch anything and am reluctant to do so right now. I have been reading the recent posts in this thread with interest and I feel more informed. How frustrated Ventis must be with Apple! I guess we are all frustrated...

I've certainly learned my lesson. I will not be installing any further Apple products without consulting this website.
Re: iTunes 9.0 Compatibility
just deleted the d_iphone.dll and d_pod.dll plugin from the mediamonkey plugin directory and both Itunes and MM work fine now.
Re: iTunes 9.0 Compatibility

Toooo, late damn it...
Exexption EAccessViolation in module d_iPhone.dll at 6C2DB11B.
Access violation at adress 6C2DC11B
EDIT: Renamed the iPhone.dll and MM now works as before.
Just one thing, why would an update to the new iTunes affect how MM starts or even if it starts? Must be bad implementation of some MM code, there should be some kind of "error function" where if MM gets an error message from an Apple driver or program, shuts down this process and continues.

Any more info please? What versions have you installed, do you have a clean installation, etc...Exexption EAccessViolation in module d_iPhone.dll at 6C2DB11B.

No, really, programming is a little more complex. When you use a third-party dll, in this case even undocumented dll, you have to expect all kind of results, including total crash, etc. There's nothing we can do about it before the problem really occurs, i.e. before a new iTunes/QT version is released.Just one thing, why would an update to the new iTunes affect how MM starts or even if it starts? Re: iTunes 9.0 Compatibility
It's a good thing I went into the forum I was about to reinstall my windows vista to see if that cleared it up. I saved my self a headache. I'm not too computer savvy but I have a monster collection of music on my computer and it is a pain when something like this happens. How do i delete that program?

Re: iTunes 9.0 Compatibility
No crash (yet) on my XP Pro SP3 box, but no ability to play .m4a files like others have reported, complete with QT nag. Didn't want to install iTunes 9, but the new 5G nano someone who shall remain nameless wanted and bought (the heathen) forced my hand. At least the rest of MM Gold appears to be functional, but it's now painfully s-l-o-w with files transfers to my any of my Walkmans, regardless of MTP or UMS. Even slower than usual sluglike pace; feels like the virtual equivalent of USB ZERO speed.

Re: iTunes 9.0 Compatibility
Beta2 fixed my problems with both iTunes9 and iPhone 3.1 loaded on a Vista system. Thanks for the quick response!
Re: iTunes 9.0 Compatibility
I'm having the same issue.i synced once my music wiht the new dll but now i cannot see the phones name it just displays "iphone" and no tracks are displayed what can i do?
XP Pro SP3
MM Beta 3.1.2.1267
iTunes 9
Touch 2G w/3.1 firmware
Fire up MediaMonkey, plug in the Touch and it is recognized, but instead of showing up as what I named it, it just says "iPod Touch." Free space is reported correctly, but no music files are visible on the device.

Same here! Argh... What to do...hazel-rah wrote:I'm having the same issue.i synced once my music wiht the new dll but now i cannot see the phones name it just displays "iphone" and no tracks are displayed what can i do?

Re: iTunes 9.0 Compatibility
There's a new iPhone/Touch plug-in available in the beta forum, it will be a part of the installer soon.

Re: iTunes 9.0 Compatibility
You mean the one you posted on the 16th? (tried that) Or was that updated since then?
Edit: I uninstalled MM just now btw (which wiped my settings, BLEH), re-installed 3.1.2.1267, re-copied the plugin DLL from your thread to the Plugins folder, and my iPod Touch still shows up simply as 'iPod Touch'... MM seems to wake it up when it's accessed and reports the correct amount of free space within it but can't access any tracks in it.
Edit #2: Okay... This is weird, I guess the music that was already on the device is the issue and not MM itself... I was able to sync new music to it, and all of a sudden the music that was already on it isn't accessible anymore (but it's still in there, taking up space)... Guess I'll have to go thru iTunes and delete it, then proceed to re-sync it all w/MM and continue using MM... Here's hoping things don't get any more screwy.
Wish I had figured that out before uninstalling MM and losing my settings, for some reason I figured they'd be saved even despite the uninstall... /groan
Edit #3: Not visible thru iTunes either... There's now a large chunk of music in teh device that neither it, nor MM, nor iTunes can see... Ack. Time to restore a backup I guess. Eidt #4: Hmmmm, I did a backup and closed iTunes before I went about messing w/any of this, but restoring said backup didn't do jack diddly to solve this. Guess I'm gonna be forced to do a complete restore of the iPod? Ugh... Is there no other way to get rid of those 10.45GB now listed simply as 'Other'?
