iPhone 3.1 firmware support

Re: iPhone 3.1 firmware support
LOL, didn't know you were Jailbroke. I use iphonebrowser. But itunes has still been funky at times concerning the music db file. If I want to be safe, I just let itunes do it the first time and then don't touch ringtones....the file structure is tricky on the phone. Especially the music db and files.
I've been on MM to enable ringtone access for a long time.
I successfully sync contacts with itunes and never run into probs...but thats a completely different file. I've actually fixed cydia files and other apps with iphonebrowser...but the damn music and ringtone stuff seems to really be "mined".

I would love if MM would be able to access ringtones, I made a request in the wish lift forum. I have a few more I want to ad to my phone but I don't want to have to re-sync all my music after I do it.
Re: iPhone 3.1 firmware support
+1 for the ringtone syncing! I just downloaded a huge iPhone ringtone pack, synced with itunes and then almost fainted after realising it had deleted my whole library from Mediamonkey (in the phone ofc). The worst is that about 70% of the music is converted from FLAC and it takes quite a while for it to convert all to MP3.
Anyway, if I sync all the ringtones with iTunes right now and then sync with mediamonkey, will the ringtones stay in the phone?

Re: iPhone 3.1 firmware support
nohitter actually it will remove ringtones on an autosync in MM. unless you specify it under the Auto-Sync Options-> Delete Tracks that aren't on the auto-sync list from the device ->
Make sure you add *.m4r in the list.
BTW I can confirm that I consistently lose my songs after an Itunes sync (as per my previous post). Am I the only one? Jiri any comment?
I am still dependent on Itunes for syncing my notes with Outlook...Wish I could do away without this piece of crap (itunes that is...)
Thx

I do not use the auto sync function in MM and I do not loose my ringtones when I sync with MM

moonglow wrote:using smart playlists to sync and select music for the ipod makes heaps of sense - except that the metadata you're using to update lists etc depends on the ipod being detected by MM - I've taken the wipe an start again approach that others have suggested, it works fine for a week or so, then something unspecified/unknown happens and MM won't detect the ipod again and I'm back to square one. Having to wipe and reinstall even 16 gig of music at random times is kinda a pain, specially when you're on your way to work.
really hanging out for a reliable fix to this, rather than whats really a pretty crude work around.
I'm using a 16GB 2nd gen iPod touch with MM 3.1.2.1267 and I'm NOT suffering from either of the issues described above... Album art seems to be sync'ing more flawlessly than ever. I occasionally, tho rarely, had issues with it in the past (certain songs losing their art and stealing from the previous song in a playlist, or garbled art, etc)... Sub-sequent syncs of affected songs always fixed it, hasn't happened at all since I moved to 3.1.1 tho I've only sync'd it a handful of times since then, over the span of a month.xapoh wrote:Was anyone able to successfully autosync with iPod Touch 3G not loosing the album art?
All the success stories here are about older gen's or iPhones...
Again, my iPod touch continues to be recognized as my own iPod touch (Frank's iPod) and I've had 0 album art issues. The only quirk I've observed is that after each sync the iPod will flash a message saying something along the lines of "Updating Library" for like 15-20s and then it'll start working smoothly... I use auto-sync within MM btw, it's set to sync my favorite albums (90 or so of 'em) and a playlist of recently added stuff.
Also, MM seems to hang up for nearly 30s (sometimes more) when it's preparing the list of songs to sync (at the start of the sync process) and when it's almost done with the sync (99%, green bar filled up all the way), first time I thought something was wrong and I terminated it. I've let it be every time since tho and it's always ended up finishing the sync process.
Re: iPhone 3.1 firmware support
Hi - first thank you VERY much for the new Beta release that syncs with iPhone. A user replied in another stream (now locked) that he was having issues where genres were scrambled for a few songs upon syncing with iPhone (on the iPhone). I am having the same problem. It happens with only a very small fraction of the songs syncronized, but it's a bit annoying. For example, Ben Harper's 'I want to be ready' (classified as Rock in my MM library) gets syncronized as Classical to the iPhone (this is the only Ben Harper song that it happened to). Then I decided to manually remove it from the iPhone (through MM) and resyncronize and see what happened. Well, it is now classified correctly (as Rock), but a different Ben Harper song, 'Glory and consequence' from the same album, now is mis-placed in 'Classical'. Weird. And if I browse the iPhone from MM, the genres are correct - they're only wrong when browsing the iPhone itself.
Out of about 7,000 songs, this happens to about 15. Any ideas? Otherwise, I'm extremely happy to be able to synchronize with MM!
Thanks much -
Matt

Re: iPhone 3.1 firmware support
Ipod touch 3g fresh from the package.
Itunes 9.0.1.8
First synchronization, used Mediamonkey, manual sync, songs were exported, but album art was not.
After trying several ways I opened Itunes to back up some data, this apparently made the data corrupted as all my songs passes from "music" to "other" and were unable to see in the ipod.
Erased all the data with the Ipod formatting option, moved backed applications and podcast.
This time did the auto-sync in mediamonkey but the result was the same, no album art is showing

Thank you. Finally I am not alone. Album art does NOT work for touch 3g and MM.Anonymousmty wrote:Ipod touch 3g fresh from the package.

Re: iPhone 3.1 firmware support
I'm actually having two issues with the current iPhone.dll plugin:

- The first big issue is that the auto-sync is not two-way.
Song informations updated on the iphone is not synced back to the mm library, especially the last played, play count and rating fields. I don't know if others are having the same issue, I haven't found any post regarding this.
I only tested this with the last iPhone.dll (build 1267) with an iphone 3gs with firmware 3.1.
Before the iphone i was using an ipod nano (with iPod.dll plugin) and the auto-sync have always been a two-way process, the mm library was always updated with last informations present on the ipod database. - The second one is the gapless playback analysis. It's not a big issue but is very annoying, I haven't found a way to disable the analysis process in itunes.
Everytime i sync iphone with itunes, the analysis process starts messing up album arts.

Re: iPhone 3.1 firmware support
Same album art issue here as well. I have the 64g touch and initially had the issue where MM content loaded and then moved to other. Reset the Touch in iTunes and then reloaded. Content was there but still no album art...
Re: iPhone 3.1 firmware support
The latest version of the beta DLL does not work with my iPhone running 3.01. The iPhone does not even show up in MM anymore. Is it possible to get an "older" version of the beta dll? It used to work fine.
MM 3.1.1.1261
iPhone 3GS 32gb
iPhone OS 3.01
Windows XP Pro

Re: iPhone 3.1 firmware support
As is stated in the first post, you need to be using the 3.1.2 beta build in order for this iPhone dll to work. However, this dll is already bundled with 3.1.2, so no need to redownload it!xio wrote:The latest version of the beta DLL does not work with my iPhone running 3.01. I've done a bit more testing, completely uninstalled mm and reinstalled build 1267 and now the auto-sync is working fine.
Don't know why was not working before, maybe i messed up iPhone.dll versions.
Any news for the gapless analysis and album art?
Thanks anyway.
