Access Violation when closing MM during Startup Scan

This forum is for reporting bugs in MediaMonkey for Windows 4. Note that version 4 is no longer actively maintained as it has been replaced by version 5.

Access Violation when closing MM during Startup Scan

Post by agapeincognito »

I consistently get the following error when trying to Close MM before the initial Startup Scan completes:
Access violation at address 0055A5C6 in module 'MediaMonkey.exe'. Read of address 48572079.
MM 2.4.2.874
Windows XP SP2, 512MB RAM

Easy to duplicate and doesn't seem to corrupt anything or cause lasting damage to the database or application of any kind. Opens fine and Startup Scan runs fine on subsequent startup (unless of course the app is closed again, in which case the error will occur again).

Just an FYI...

I cannot reproduce this, please generate a debug log as described on top of this forum and e-mail it to me.

Thanks,

I've been having the same problem too. I downloaded the Debug version, installed it, and now I can't reproduce the error - I guess that's good news. I'll keep testing it to see if it pops up again, using both the regular executable and the debug version.

BTW, how do I 'uninstall' the debug version. Does it only add the 'MediaMonkey_Debug.exe' file to the MediaMonkey folder? Or is there something else that should be changed?

Thanks,
Joey

The debug version also overwrites two other dlls, the easiest way is to install the latest MM again over your installation.

Could you let us know what the two DLL's are. I'd like to just be able to switch out the DLLs as needed without having to install/uninstall every time.

This can change in future versions, but for now only akrip32.dll and d_ipod.dll. There isn't any significant performance loss if you use debug versions of these two, but I can understand you want to switch them.

Haha. I got it to occur and captured the logfile. Email sent with logfile, screen capture and sysinfo.

This was fun. Now I want to find more bugs

I'm glad you were able to get it FurAnt! I've had a nightmarish week and haven't had a chance to work with it yet.

Jiri, thank you also for the file names!

Yep, me too. Preferably when closing MM while it is still playing a song.
