The Minimise / Maximise Bug

Post by YellowSoul »

What happens?

When I minimise MediaMonkey and then maximise it again by clicking on the taskbar button, an error message like this shows up:
Image
When I click away the error message the top right corner changes it appearance a little:

The minimise button is changed for a maximise button and I am unable to maximise MediaMonkey by any means. Clicking the maximise button results in MediaMonkey becoming a little tray in the bottom left corner of the screen:

Then, the only way to fix the bug is closing MediaMonkey using the Windows task manager and restarting it.

How to reproduce it:

- enable "album art with details" mode
- rightclick on the cover of an album which has the artwork saved in an external file / in external files
- choose "Edit album art properties"
- remove all album arts
- confirm to delete files as well
- minimise and maximise MediaMonkey

Tests I have done:

- bug occurs on both of my systems
- bug occurs with plugins and scripts deactivated
- precise error message varies
- bug will always occur

Anyone has an idea on how to fix this bug? Does it only occur to me?

Awesome! Installing the debug version fixes the bug. Is it OK, if I run the debug version all the time now?
Also, there is a new small bug which exists with the debug version but not with the normal one: In Windows 7 when I have the MediaMonkey icon in the taskbar and then open MediaMonkey a second MediaMonkey icon will pop up. Usually the shortcut icon just highlights. What is the reason behind this?

yes it's normal. MediaMonkey_Debug.exe and Mediamonkey are two different files.
Unpin the mediamonkey icon.
Find the debug version MediaMonkey_Debug.exe file.
Pin it to the taskbar.

I wonder why you have the bug happening only with the normal version and not the debug one.
That seems rather strange.
If I pointed you to that topic, it was so that you could make a debuglog.
Which would help the developers to understand what's going on.

This file does not exist.

Yes, I know that this was not what you intended. I should have made my statement more ironic. Sorry that I have to confuse you, but that is how it is.

Is there any other possibility to make a debug log?

I don't know the exact name of the file.
But the idea is this:
Unpin the icon u used before (the shortcut to your previous installation of MM)
find the executable of the version u use now (should be inside your mm folder )
make a shortcut and pin it to the taskbar.
