Wrong Genre Tag information

Post by icy_wiener »

I've got fully tagged mp3 files (tagged with mp3tag 2.34 for ID3v1, ID3v2 and APE). But as i import my libary into media monkey, the genre node shows wrong tag information.

Then i opened the properties and closed it again without editing anything and the genre changed to what it should be.

but by refreshing the libary, the genre tags rechanged.

i really don't know what to do, becaus every other player can read my tags properly (even mm shows the right tags expect for the genre).

Hi!

I got the same problem since I updated to v2.4.4. In genre column of the tracklist the wrong is displayed. Euro-Techno instead of Ambient or Rap instead of Reggae for example. :-(

When I display one of the track properties, the correct genre was shown. Also when I display genre info with another tool like mp3tag or the windows file property info.

And I solved the problem: I've uninstalled MediaMonkey and deleted the MediaMonkey database and configuration files located in "c:\documents and settings\titus\my files\my music". After reinstalling MM everything goes fine. I think MM comes in trouble with its own database after switching to the next program release.

So if that's the solution, what do you do if you have the last stable release AND a beta installed in separate directories?

Wrong genre tags

The easiest sollution for me was simply installing the latest beta version. All genre tags show up correctly now.

Damaged database

You don't need to do a reinstall, all you need to do is close MediaMonkey and delete the MediaMonkey .mdb file. Open MediaMonkey back and it will create a new .mdb file that is compatible with the version that you are running.
