[1431] MediaMonkey locks up & corrupts my iPod [#8374]

Re: [1431] MediaMonkey locks up & corrupts my iPod [#8374]
Went back to 1432 and it appeared to work initially but the auto sync didn't seem to work properly. When I hit the auto sync button MM4 went through it's routine but upon completion when I checked the playlists on my iTouch the playlists were incomplete. During the sync process I get a window that tells me I've got numerous files on the device that are not in the sync list (I believe these are control files from Apple). Previously when things were working this window would only list a single file. Now there are quite of few of these. I uncheck the box so they don't get deleted and then get two windows (in succession) telling me some files couldn't be copied.....etc. and do I want to save as a playlist......this was a normal occurance and I think has to do with some tracks that have rights management on them. I went back to MM and attempted to "send" an individual playlist to my device. It completed and all the songs in the playlist became visible on the device but then wouldn't playback. When this happens I have to go back to iTunes and do a restore and iTunes sync to get it working again. Hope this information helps.

Irankine,
We still can't reproduce this. Can you please send a debug log using build 1436?
That might give us a bit more information to help us figure out why this is happening.
Thanks.

How should I send the copies of the iTouch files you need?
Re: [1431] MediaMonkey locks up & corrupts my iPod [#8374]
Ok, here's what I did. Restored iTouch in iTunes and sync'd one song. Both itunes and MM (1436) were running and showed the itouch connected. Made sure the song played ok. Obtained copies of the relevent iTouch files. Closed itunes and opened debug view. Ran MM sync which finished quite quickly....checked the touch and only 48 songs were sync'd (I've got WAY more stuff set to sync than that). Some songs play and some don't. Grabbed another copy of the iTouch files and noticed that the iTunes CDB file was no longer there. Here's the rundown on my PC;
Win 7 Ultimate SP 1 (64 bit OS)
8 gig Ram
AMD Athlon 64 FX-62 DC processor 2.81 GHz
4 HD drives (C, D,E,F) (MM installed on D drive where all my program files are)
All music files are stored on E drive.
1 CDR drive
1 BluRay drive
iTouch
iTouch 64 gig version 4.3.5 (8L1)
Model MCL11LL
iTunes Version 10.4.1.10
Let me know how I can transmit these files to you and thanks in advance for checking this out!

Here's another piece of information. After all of the above I reconnected my touch and iTunes starts up (as it always does) and I get the message that it cannot read the contents of my touch and I should restore to factory settings.

Irankine,
Can you save the files to e.g. mediafire.com, and PM me a link.
Thanks so much.

Larry,
first of all, try to avoid iTunes and MM simultaneously, it can cause problems.
Then, from the debug log, there are problems in auto-conversion of WMA files to the device, for example:
Failed auto-conversion of E:\iTunes\Music\Herb Alpert & The Tijuana Brass\Whipped Cream & Other Delights\6 - Herb Alpert & The Tijuana Brass - WHIPPED CREAM.wma
I'm not sure what's the reason for this, try to convert this file manually (to any format, e.g. mp3). Does it work?

Re: [1431] MediaMonkey locks up & corrupts my iPod [#8374]
I'll give it a try Jiri and let you know. Although I recall this happening in the previous versions with no bad effects on the sync with MM. Seems like in earlier versions of iTunes there was a setting you could change that would prevent iTunes from automatically starting when you first connect a device.......but maybe I dreamt that....in any case is there a preferred method for doing this? (i.e. plugging in device first, let iTunes start....close iTunes.....start MM?).
Re: [1431] MediaMonkey locks up & corrupts my iPod [#8374]
You can disable startup of iTunes - just click the device when connected in iTunes - you'll see related checkbox.

It wouldn't let me convert it. Tried doing that with several WMA files and message said it may be due to DRM restrictions.
Re: [1431] MediaMonkey locks up & corrupts my iPod [#8374]
If these WMA files were ripped with WMP than by default they contain DRM protection, this is also often the case when the files were purchased.

I received the files and they really are DRM protected - probably Napster files with expired licenses.

Well don't that figure..........
I'll be clearing them out of the library. Do you think that's the root of the problem?
